He allegedly spent years bulking up to HW.

At LHW he fought around 220.

At HW he fights around 240.

Visually he looks absolutely the same in terms of musculature, but with an additional layer of fat and a rather prominent gut ... which, on a 6'4" man it's easily 15-20 pounds of fat.

So he spent years bulking up to HW to gain <5 pounds of muscle? Like ... totally pointless.

Hypertrophy gains isn't useful for him. Larger muscles = gas easier

What he wants is getting stronger but at the same increasing muscle mass the least. And adding some extra fat to be able to match the other HWs in grappling exchanges.

Fat is good in heavyweight usually unless your a behemoth then it’s just beneficial to be cut. Like the Maurice guy, Maurice green, he was in this one season if TUF and he destroyed everyone orettt easily cause he’s 6 foot 7 and he’s not really a fat guy.

Didn't he lose his 2nd fight in TUF. Has not had a successful career since...

People have no clue how this shit works and it's apparent in threads like this.

Looking like a fucking body builder serves zero purpose in MMA. All that muscle burns oxygen.

I figured it was just money? Jones has done quite well financially in his career and seemed to lose a bit of that competitive hunger around 2020. He could afford to relax and wait for Dana to make the right offer to get him motivated again.

This. Jon was trying to get paid BIG for his HW fight with Francis :p Which would have obviously been good for Frank also. People ragging on Jones for trying to get them both some more money out of the greedy goof, I don't get.

Anatomy lesson:
A 6' 4" man who's already a fairly lean 220 won't show much of 20 more lbs of type 2 fiber muscle on the surface.

A powerlifters Type 2 muscle fibers don't show oop on teh surface like teh body builder's type 1 fibers... & it looks like Jon's been "lifting heavy" for strength rather than flashy looking muscles. His gut is due to lack of proper ab exercises & makes zero indication about the muscle spread around his body.

He looked a lot bigger before.

I think he got up to like 260 at one point. Too lazy, but I think if you check his insta, he was gettin thicc.

Hes had a year off with an injury though. Hopping off a cycle means you lose muscle pretty fast.

All said and done, he definitely looks more like a LHW now again, which is kinda weird.

More like spent years ducking Francis
Jones is the only one who signed the contract.

Only evidence people have of him ducking is negotiations from 2021. Nor Dana or Jones ever mentioned money again, and he was reported as back in 2022, long before ngannou actually left.

He was supposed to fight Stipe In December 2022, deal was all but done but fell through because Stipe didn't like his pay(reported by helwani)

Jones was booked for the march 2023 card according to media outlets a month before ngannou officially left.

And finally, Ngannou himself said he was offered the Jones fight for 8 million and could've fought him but turned it down.

Evidence is all quite clear, ngannou turned it down, fight didn't happen.

Same guy hid under the octagon for six hours.
<BC1>
Three years was a bender.

I mean, it's kinda working for him, so far, ain't it?

Plus, what possibly could be left to prove at LHW after 15 title fights in a row there?
