I am an ex-Scientologist. (LONG read)

is anon still protesting? because they do everything for the lulz and most attention spans are low, so you'd think they'd get tired of it and more on to better and easier lulz.

but yeah, it pisses me off when tards like to compare legit religions with scientology. so you dont like religions, fine, but even an idiot can tell a harmful cult from a regular religion.

in normal religions, nothing is forced on you. the imam, priest, or rabbi won't sue you or charge thousands of dollars for enlightenment.

anybody that has gotten past the 'planet xenu' parts of scientology, and stayed interested and kept listening......... is an idiot.

i cant believe people never said "if this is legit, how come you can't contact any aliens right now?"

wouldn't that be proof of et? lulz:icon_chee

Scientology is insane- they expect people to believe all kinds of crazy, unrealistic shit just because someone in authority tells them to take it on faith.

So, how is this different than Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Mormonism, and the rest?

As far as I can tell, the reason those others are "religions" is that they've been around a lot longer and have a lot more members. If a "cult" hangs around for a couple of hundred years, it becomes a religion (Mormons, apparently, are on the cusp of transitioning from "cult" to "religion").

Give Scientology another 150 years and it will be just as "legitimate" as the other religions. BS is BS, folks- don't be hatin' on Scientology because their BS is different than your BS.

And don't be hatin' on Scientology because they are evil, greedy bastards (they are, of course). I could go on for hours listing the historical evils and greed of Islam, Catholicism, and all the rest- evil acts that make the Scientology evil look like kid's stuff by comparison.

And no, for those who are curious, I don't have an imaginary friend (God).

To the above: Show me another mainstream religion that bleeds you dry of your life savings in order to be a part of their sect. While I don't believe in any talking dead guys either, it's a personal right to have any beliefs that you want. But charging for it should qualify the Co$ as a BUSINESS and not a religion, thus not tax exempt. They really need to be taken down.

Edit: I'm well aware of the evil history of all the other big religions. But nothing they're doing today, other than arguably Islam, are as detrimental as the Co$ today, unless you have some examples.

Edit two: I don't claim that Islam in itself is responsible for terrorism, but it is also inseparable from it, unfortunately.

The one thing I can give credit to many other religions and not Scientology (with regards to the crazy, unrealistic shit) is that Scientology came to be AFTER modern science. Back when said other religions, they didn't know any better...

You'd just expect more from a modern religion.

I'll make this one quick.

You have seen the worst in religions when they become the actual government of a nation. Which is why dudes like Thomas Jefferson wrote about the separation of church and state. It gets out of control very, very fast. And horrific consequences ensue.

Scientlolgy would put them all to shame if they had their own country, with no worries about public image or control.

A thousand times worse than any Spanish Inquisition or the likes.

Rancho Sisquoc ring a bell? Local. About 14 bucks. Nice buttery cab.

I've been dating a recovered alcoholic. So I haven't really had any drinks in two years. But I didn't miss it much.

My favorite wines are made by Josko Gravner and others from that region in Italy. And those are very hard to find here. And very expensive if you do.

U got taste, bro. Im majorly partial to red zinfandels, myself.

I'd like to try Rancho Sisquoc, never found it in stores around here. One I really like is La Crema's pinot noir. Really good for the price (I aint rich).

You are missing the point. Sure, BS is BS and I couldn't agree more, being a atheist myself, but as Australian senator Nick Xenophon so eloquently put it, in a free society you can believe whatever you want - you can't just do whatever you want. Scientology routinely confuses the two in a major way that I don't think it's members are really able to comprehend.

Many mainstream religions committed atrocities in the past. That is true. Then they got reformed and now they acknowledge, at least in the west, that they must respect the basic human rights of their flock.

Scientology does not.

If Scientology was just a set of beliefs and not a very particular organization that has corporate policies that revolve around mental and physical abuse, splitting up families and defrauding it's flock(not in the sense that their beliefs are a fraud, but that they routinely demand money for services not rendered)....then I would have no problem with them. If people want to audit each other until the cows come home, or belive in the tale of Xenu and the loyal officers and whatnot, I couldn't give a flying fuck.

One of the fundamental principles America was built on was that all religions were allowed, BUT that freedom came at the price of having to play nice and respect the Bill of Rights and the Constitution. I view that principle as America's most brilliant invention and greatest export(even though the Dutch actually beat them to it  ), and couldn't be happier that this principle is also in effect throughout the western world.

There is no such thing as "church law" that trumps the law of the land. And Scientology breaks the law of the land every fucking day in a highly systematic way that Baptists, Mormons, Catholics, Muslims etc. do not.

When news broke that the Catholic church had covered up child molestation, Catholics across the world were free to protest and demand change without risking expulsion or excommunication. No such option allows for reforming the leadership of Scientology - if you as a Scientologist publicly criticize David Miscavage, your ass is toast. You will be expelled and disconnected from all of your Scientologist friends and family members, and if they do not comply with that directive, they in turn are excommunicated.

There is no paradox in advocating religious freedom while demanding that the Church of Scientology be dismantled "in it's present form".

Believe it or not, some anons actually live real lives outside of their parent's basements.

Came for teh lulz, stayed for the awesomeness of watching a tyrannical organization slowly implode.

For sure, most of the original DDOS anaons are probably gone, but the hardcore peeps still protesting are fierce and will not quit.

THISh! (Icelandic :icon_lol:)

They are a serious inspiration to the ex-members (like me), who have been hiding out. They pulled me into the light. And many more will follow in time. But there are already so many now! It's amazing. Check this out...

Los Gatos Jan. 9th 2010 - Why We Protest | Activism Forum

That's the protest I went to in San Jose. There were more people outside the church than were actually inside it.

It was great to hear all the honking horns in support of Anonymous. Not to mention the occasional "FUCK scientology!!!" or "Scientology SUCKS!!!" being yelled out of the passing cars.

2010 is going to be the best year of my life. It already is.

Damn I'm trying to get back on a normal sleeping cycle and was gonna go to sleep before I read this thread. I have been reading this thread and all its links and the links in those links for the last 5 hours or so.
Anyway that's crazy stuff Will. I wasn't aware of the child labor and all of that stuff before. I'm glad you've been able to get away from that bullshit. Are you still being stalked?

Your credibility just went down the tube when you joined the Internet Retard Bandwagon which is "Anonymous".

Sorry, cowards who protest an "oppressive organization" with Guy Fawkes masks becaus they thought V for Vendetta was sexy? Should be laughed out of civilized political discourse.

Seriously man. At this point? I think your testimonial is a bunch of garbage. Why else would you associate with this group if you were legit? Why would you discredit yousrelf? Or fuck - why would you post this on Sherdog.com and not to a newspaper? They accept anonymous testimonials.

You're not "Anonymous". You're "4 chan". Aka: The largest, easiest to access child porn depository in the world.

Scientology DrSD?
I seem to remember something about you reading dianetics...
