I am. Sort of.
That's the only question that matters
Or Kempes?
Kempes who? He has been forgotten.
Did the Argentinians care when Maradona got busted for even more drugs or will he always be a God?
No. He is a mediocre human beign and most people relate to that. A cheater, a shitty father, etc. He just had the luck with being born with an amazing talent for kicking a ball. That and winning a lottery ticket are not very different.
Being really poor when he was a child also creates sympathy.
Were your grandparents nazis?
Mm.. my grandfather (from my moms side) was kind of. No nazi, but a right-wing peronist. He always talked about the "cabecitas negras" ("black heads") in refer to poor people. Wasn´t the most polite guy in the world.
I going on the presumption your are also a football fan
Boca/River is the most insane match up in football, when you guys look at other games elsewhere, who match up do you see as similar ?
{did a bit of traveling in my prime, a big regret was I never got down to your neighbourhood}
Not a soccer fan now but I was pretty high on it when I grew up. Also soccer is the most common conversation here.
There are a lot of "classic" heres. Every team has it own archinemesis: Racing vs Independiente, San Lorenzo vs Huracan, etc.
But no.. Boca vs River is the biggest match here, an incredible rivalry. Maybe Barcelona vs Madrid at an international level.. IDK.
Best in the world. Mine? I can do the basic step (that are like 8 steps) but not much more. I want to learn to dance tango well at some point tho but not now.
What do the people of Argentina think of American people today?
I remember being told in the past that American's were poorly thought of due to backing the UK during the Falkland war.
American culture is not liked here a lot.. but it depends. People either love it or hate it.
Ive met a lot of americans while traveling (mostly backpackers) and they were cool.
If you come here as a cocky asshole you are going to get shit for it. If you come like a cool person then they are going to receive only good vibes.
Is football still the most important thing in Argentina or is there something else people will lose their mind over ?
Are you due for another bankruptcy or is economy improving ?
Whats the shittiest part of living in Argentina ?
Do most people travel to other countries when on vacation ? Is it ok to visit Brasil on vacation ?
What are women like - open or closed to strangers ?
1. Soccer is huge here. We live in a constant state of political/economical crisis and I think a lot of people use it to get away from their shitty reality. During World Cup the whole context is different. Government take advantage of that to take anti-popular measures.
2. We are due bankruptcy, again. This goverment has increased the external debt by A LOT. Unemployement is going up. Poverty is poverty but there are levels to that shit.. and now the poor people is getting really poor.
People still buy that shit that an open market will help us but everytime they do that they destroy the national industry. Our governments work for the big companies, not for us.
3. The shittiest thing must be to being used to all I said above (a crazy bankruptcy every 10/15 years, being robbed by politicians, etc). Its like we have accepted to being taken advantage of.
The younger people (teenagers) seems to not take nearly as much shit as older people do. So it will be interesting to see what happens in the next 20 years.
A dictatorship government killing like 30k activists during 1976/1983 didnt help at all.
4. Yes.. its perfect to go to Brazil. They have way better beaches than us. If you have money and are a little stupid you go to Miami (strange relationship between Miami and Argentina). Our country is beautiful and has a lot to offer to tourism but somehow people either dont know it or dont care.
I know people that went to Europe several times but dont know our beautiful and uber cheap northwest (google Tafí de Valle, Tilcara, etc)
5. Im mergint that last one with a question from another user.
