How young would you get your baby's ears pierced?

I've never had any piercings, except for when cuffs pierced my heart,
but it does seem like it would be painful.
I know it's not the same thing, but I was wearing nipple clamps this afternoon for
what seemed like an eternity until she was done with me.

I didn't let my daughter do it until secondary school and now she doesn't want to do it anyway.

The idea of doing it when the kid didn't even ask for it to be done is madness to me.

There's a woman on my local FBook group asking for recommendations to get her 2 month old baby's ears pierced.

When told she's being selfish and it's cruel she went berserk at everyone talking about circumcision.

2 months old for a cosmetic procedure is too young when it's painful for a baby who doesn't understand why, right? I had plastic surgery on my ears when I was 8 but I was old enough to know what was going on by then.

The child should decide if and when they want their ears pierced.

Personally find it creepy as fuck.....like they are sexualising the child, but it's pretty common in this part of the world (Eastern Europe).

Being neither female nor a parent, guess I'm not one to really ask though.

While I don't think getting your ears pierced is the worst thing in the world, but why wouldn't wait until your kid was enough to make her own decision before you poke holes in her? Circumcision is a terrible argument because that should also be a personal choice.

Low risk of infection, no memory of pain, and if your kids doesn’t like it later, then it practically reverts back…. It’s like the least harmful thing and chances are, girls will want it. I had to get it done for all three of my girls, from 5-6 years old, they ask started to beg for it, it became unbearable listening.

I was a late starter at 13 when my mum let me get mine done.
I just find it a bit weird when parents need to get their a few weeks old children stabbed to be pretty.

I think my wife got both of our daughters ears done around 2 years old. Your story is the first time I've head of earlier than 9-12 months.

At 6-9 months they're doing a lot of crawling and rolling around, studs catching on something or jabbing when rolling over the ear could be an issue. At two months they're a lump on a log that just eats, shits, and demands to be held all the time.

I would think one would want to at least wait until they're walking.

I don't think it's a big deal at whatever age it's done. She's right about the circumcision thing though. Babies actually die from that. I read a story once where they mutilated a childs penis, decided to just cut it off and make it a girl, the kid ended up killing himself.

My daughter wanted her ears pierced and we took her to an ENT to have it done. That’s the way to go. By a doctor in a clean environment. She didn’t even cry.
