How young would you get your baby's ears pierced?

I am not going to lie. I don't get why women pierce their ears. There was never a time in my life where I stopped and said oh no I wood not because her ears are pierced or not. The only time I pay attention if it's on the nose or the face.

People do things for themselves sometimes

Edit: I realize everything those guys did was to get laid. But my point is girls aren't getting their ears pierced to get you to bang them
 
It’s stupid. I don’t care about the little pain of the piercing but you open the kid up to infection. Also they could itch them or pull on them and cause more pain or infection.

It’s incredibly selfish. Now if this lady wants to do it then fine. But don’t try to justify it or say it isn’t selfish. The baby doesn’t know or care about the piecing. It’s 100% for the mom to show off and enjoy. Definition of selfish.

It makes them feel pretty. It’s like other jewelry. I have no issues with it.

For jewellery reasons to look pretty. Might as well ask why we wear make up or curl our hair.

It's the woman's choice when they grow up. Baby doesn't really have a choice.

Maybe I have just a negative outlook on piercings. I remember going to the mall with girls so they can get their piercings. It's always infection or some nasty shit afterwards. Thank god I wasn't dumb enough to get a piercing.

Yeah, I did a morning and nightly surgical spirit bathe when I had my first ones done. AS an adult it sort of worked itself out.

My niece is 8, has clip ons she likes to wear when she gets dressed up. I'm sure she'll want real ones in a few years and that's what I thought was normal.
 
While I don't think getting your ears pierced is the worst thing in the world, but why wouldn't wait until your kid was enough to make her own decision before you poke holes in her? Circumcision is a terrible argument because that should also be a personal choice.
 
It will hurt a little bit, but a 2 month old baby isn't going to have any memory of it being done. It's a minor pain not worth really worrying about imo, it's not like their taking a chainsaw to the baby's ears.
 
Nope , not at that age . We agreed to wait until she was old enough to make her own choice on the matter . Think she was around 10 or so. She now has a couple of ear ones and a nose piercing and probably others I have no interest in ever finding out about.
 
Aside from issues such as burns and cleft lips, I think the idea of altering a babys body for purely cosmetic reasons is utter madness.

I'd also retort that I find circumcision to be even more stupid.

Mutilate is a strong word for ear piercing.
However I see no reason to get an infant baby's ears pierced, wait at least till the kid walks and knows their own name ffs.
I don't have kids but if I had the answer would probably be when my daughter said she wanted earrings.
 
Whenever I see a small child with their ears pierced, the first word that springs to mind is "Knackerish".
