-Better on top, ground and pound would amplify this
-Better wrestling/judo - Maia has an awesome single leg, but not nearly good enough to impose upon Jacare, hard to see Maia in any kind of dominant position
-Smaller - Jacare is a naturally stronger and bigger athlete
-Much sharper and more powerful striking, offensively and defensively.

And? Jacare has beat him more times in BJJ. They also wore gi's in this match, which is something Maia utilizes as a part of his game more often than Jacare.

Maia fan here.
I think Jacare is too big and strong for Demian and has better striking. IMO their mma-bjj is roughly equal but Souza can neutralize clinch game, avoid takedowns and win most likely by decision. Though KO/TKO win is also possible for him.

I think Jacare is probably the worst possible match up for Maia, he would struggle to control him in the grapple, for two major reasons.

1.Jacare is too big/strong
2.Jacare's grappling is right up there on Maia's level.

Demian has improved stand up, but Jacare is has far better developed & more dangerous stand up. Very tough fight for Maia to win IMO.
