Movies How was Prey aka Predator prequel

Instead another movie with a frail girl that would have a broken forearm the moment it got touched is the one to fight the Predator.
They gettin back on track.

Bensonhurst wasnt built in a day.

How our standards have fallen.

Once we were asking if new Star Wars movies were going to be as good as Empire Strikes Back or Revenge of the Sith.... now we're asking if they'll be better than The Last Jedi.
Man they just pourin gasoline on that dumpster fire

I feel like watching all the ones after 2 again and seeing how I feel.
Ok So I rewatched Predators.

I think the hearts were in the right place. They kind of tried to make a Battle Royale thing out of this.

The opening scene for sure is an original idea. It took balls to do,and it was a great idea to just have people falling from the fuckin sky and not knowing whats going on.

No complaints about Adrien Brody. He held the movie together. As I said before,I didnt really have a problem with the human characters except for the doctor, and the prisoner. Yakuza guy being there was dumb too but he really was only there so they could do that fight scene. The sheer thought of Predators actually busting the prisoner out of jail just to hunt him was so stupid. The guy could barely fight and didnt have any weapons anyway,at least the others could be seen engaging in warfare and be taken right then and there...at least that was plausible... The doc and the yakuza guy?? Cmon man... They went too far with that..

The other problem with the movie is the CGI isnt that great, and used in a over the top way too often. Like when the Predator's plasma cannon all of a sudden makes Fishburne completley explode in a cgi splish splash, its kind of hard to take seriously.

The Predators themselves look OK,at least with the helmets on,but the way they are filmed when they arent fighting...you just see too much of them. In the earlier films,it was filmed in a more mysterious manner. Also The cloaking shit was also too flashy and over the top too, cartoonish looking.

I will say the fight scenes, esp towards the end, look pretty good. They are really able to do good fight scenes with a guy in a suit and not cgi,and the hand to hand fight scenes are notably much better than they were in 1987.

However, when they arent fighting, its just sort of meh.

Kevin Peter Hall really knew how to make the Predator's deliberate movements stick out. Those first two Predators in the first two movies had a personality in the way they moved, and the way they were filmed. This movie just seems like they are any other "guy in suit" movie monsters. Like remember when the Predator couldnt find Arnold cos he was covered in mud. You could "feel' The predator frustrated that he couldnt find him,and opening and closing his fist. In Predator 2 when Harrigans shoots at The Predators shoulder cannon, you could see the predator pull it off and throw it on the floor in frustration.

These movies dont got none of that shit.

The predators with the helmets off look like shit, they never got that right after Predator 2. Even the tied up predator, which was meant to look similar to the first one, just looked retarded lol

I really liked Lawerence Fishburne's performance, but it wound up grinding the movie to a halt. Its more in the pacing, then it being a bad idea.

Anyway I think the original idea for the movie was good, but it wasnt executed to its best, and the movie starts to get less good about halfway through it. Brody's final fight with the Predator though was actually pretty good. The CGI ( i know its 2010 but still) was just a bit too show offy, and it wasnt needed.

The less said about the prisoner and the doctor the better.

I'm gonna give the movie a 6 out of 10.

The good: Adrien Brody, good hand to hand fight scenes.

The bad: Too much CGI,Predators kind of didnt look that great/saw too much of them, and some characters that really didnt need to be in this.

It had potential but I agree with what you said. I liked the Yakuza guy.

He isnt offensive in the movie, cos he almost does and says nothing until the pretty good fight scene.

I thought it was cool to get “killers” from different areas. Prisoner and Doctor were the odd balls IMO. I think if you went prisoner you could have went almost like a redneck Hunter killer type big guy versus what the movie had.

At least then you could have him know some bushcraft and get some cool moments. Though, the prison shanking on a Pred was hilarious along with the spine rip.

Oleg was cool in the movie as a Spetnaz but the Colombian woman was the worst character IMO. She was a “sniper” and missed her first three easy shots.

They also totally did Danny Trejo dirty

I didnt like the spine rip, that shit was way too over the top. Like fine I dont mind that he ripped out his spine, but they did it so fast that it was like fuckin comedic.

Eh.

Like when the Pred ripped out Billy or Jerry's spine (they were already dead but..)

it looked fuckin vicious...this just looked cartoonish lol

Enjoyed Predators & Prey.
I liked Amber Midthunder on Legion too.

It was cool seeing the predator unfamiliar with the food chain of earth so he worked his way through tougher and tougher prey until humans. At least that’s what I got out of it

I actually like it. I won't watch that shit but that is some legit big league trolling by that lady.

All those raging guys who can't do shit and she's just toying with their beloved childhood memories not giving two fucks.

Predator 1987 is a masterpiece.
Only thing I would have change is the opening scene showing the Predator spaceship.
Could have kept the mystery on what that thing was for a while.

Yeah agreed that was one of the only poor creative editing choices

The problem with Predators for me is its not a Predator film but rather a film which using the Predator lore. Nothing wrong with expanding the lore a bit as Predator 2 did but here you just do not have the plot formula the franchise was built on, Predator hunts good guys, has a confrontation with badass. Instead you got an overly complex geeky plot which depends on making refferences to the previous films to sell itself but isnt actually much like them.

The Predator has hunter eyes so ain't nobody gonna fuck with that. He's also got great zygos and has probably bagged more alien babes than Captain Kirk.

Yeah the epitome of the food chain at the end. A bratty 120pound girl jumping around with a rope on her axe. Man what warrriors he faced. <Lmaoo>

This had to be an alcoholic Predator high on ultra weed to get of "fighting" that.

1000. The Predator

I rate Predators an smidge above Prey. The CGI animals (Bear, Snake, etc.) in prey really took me out of it. As well as the CGI predator. They were ps3 quality in terms of special effects. But predators with the stupid twist of having that dork Topher being the evilest most dangerous mother fucker was lame as shit and that samurai battle was cringe as fuck. But The Predator is a big heaping pile of dogshit and shouldn’t even be mentioned or recognized as part of the franchse. I remember there being a lot of hoopla surrounding the predator since it was being directed and written by Shane Black and he was going to right the ship of the flailing franchise. Boy were they wrong about that. He is a lousy director and an even worse writer.

What made the film work is that the predator sees her being attacked by animals and other humans so it doesn't even view her as a threat. Thats what allows her to survive and eventually outsmart it. The movie title Prey is describing her.
