How special was Mirko Cro Cop?

Nice avoidance of every point I made. Regardless, if you think Derrick Lewis represents an evolution of the sport, you clearly don't understand what you're watching...which aligns well with the ridiculous arguments you're making. Take care.

Big HWs being able to throw and land flying knee KOs when they previously couldn't somehow isn't an evolution.

I don't think you quite know what the world evolution means.

I have a better question, would any of you take a my username for 10,000$? You would have to be doing the splits with one of your legs strung up hanging sideways of course.

We found out when came to the UFC that he was never that good and he fought like a scared puss who couldn't pull the trigger.

I feel bad for all the fans that weren't around for CroCop vs Fedor. It was like the equivalent feeling of seeing Pacquiao vs Mayweather. He was the one dude who I thought could KO Fedor. The buzz around these forums and around the entire MMA community in general was insane. It was really awesome having everyone here on the forum at 6 AM or other crazy hours and still hyped as hell for that fight. Those were the days! His KO of Igor was one of the first Pride fights I had ever seen and is burned into my memory, made me a fight fan forever. At one time he definitely had the "aura" about him. All time great as far as I am concerned.

Don't feel bad for me, I don't feel that upset about not seeing two of the most overrated fighters ever. Not even top 10 hws

Why?

HW is weaker today than it was during Mirko’s reign of terror in Pride.

Cain was touted as the best UFC HW ever a few years back, and he got wrecked by Werdum who couldn’t crack the top 5 in Pride.

Ngannou vs a mid tier HW in Hunt would be a tossup fight.

Where is your evidence of this supposed HW evolution?

Zero evidence.

Hes using the shertard, UFC famboy metric

I wouldn't say sport evolved past him (at least not at heavyweight). He had good grappling for heavyweight standards, especially as a striker. He knew how to defend takedowns, how to defend himself off his back. He had decent top game and ground and pound. That's way more than most UFC level heavyweights have

The sport "evolved" so far past Mirko that the likes of Derrick Lewis, Rozenstruik, Tai Tuivasa and Volkov are top 5-10 HWs in the UFC in 2023.....

What would Mirko ever do in today's super evolved HW division?

The dumbest shit I've ever read lol. What magical shertard UFC fan boy metric is this based on?

You do realize that Cro Cop himself also stopped landing headkick KOs as his career progressed right? That all the examples from the OP are from his early days in the equally early days of MMA?

Let alone that we still see headkicks all the time these days and most of the time they're not KO blows. TS even mentioned Gaethje/Poirier as though that wasn't the 4th headkick of the fight, with each of them having landed headkicks on the other. Only 1/4 headkicks gave us a KO.

Even the random Sherbros created tons of threads pointing out what went wrong with Dustin's defence of it. And not that, you know, he'd just eaten a headkick flush cause he had no idea what he was doing like some bum in 2002. He actually had tried to defend it and it just wasn't enough.

Again, like gee whiz it's almost like fighters got better at defending headkicks or something.

Mirko did OK as an anti-terrorist squad leader

He was never the leader, thats fakenews spread by Joe Rogan.

Mirko was a member of the ATJ Lučko, which means Anti-Terror-Unit Lučko (Lučko being a town) and they separated in 2000 when he asked for an unpaid one year vacation. They didn't had those options so he left. He told the whole story during his appearance in the Late Night TV show "Nightmare Stage by Željko Malnar".
