How Much Lumber Do I Need(Math Bro Helps)

It wasn't a knock on you. I'm in the trades and can build something solid and specific to needs with my eyes closed. Yet if all I needed was a table for a lego display I'd go the same route as you.

thats cool that you have skills like that. I can play with tools and build stuff but its a task for me.

I need to go to lowes later and get some 2x4s and build a table but dont know what I need. I want the table to be 6ft in length and 3ft in width and 3ft in height. I am thinking 6 legs and 2 support beams.

I'm a blue collar whore (plumber by trade) and enjoy it. I had a customer just marvel at my skills about a year ago. I asked him how he made a living - stock market. To me that's pure fucking magic. Everyone has their field and we can't be good at everything. I'm amazed at musicians, for example. Music runs my life, but damn, I'm absolutely tone deaf and it's one of my utter failures in life.

Use 3/4" plywood for the table top. I built something similar for my grandfather's shed when I was 16 and 20 years of holding steel cabinets and shit and it's still standing strong.

Also, brace the legs together. At least the short ends.

I made some 4 foot tables a few years back, but I used Doug Fir 4" x 4" beams for the legs and cross members. It is way overbuilt but I was using the table to store heavy machinery, and didn't want it collapsing.

2" x 4" lumber should be fine for a 6 foot table . Depending on how much weight you plan on putting on it, you could make do with just 4 legs.

72" x 30" x 30"
Not perfect but it will save you many much time and money. $39 at Walmart
Yeah I recommend this also. Cheaper than making a table out of lumber, less hassle, way way less weight and is collapsible. Have used 1 for years.
