Depends on what your "normal" is. If your normal is to hug as a greeting and then you dont, it likely will be seen as disrespect and if as a muslim you dont then it wont be.

Most people on this forum thought Khabib was just a regular Russian Christian around 2012ish and didn't know what Dagestan was. The UFC game even gave him a Russian Orthodox Christian celebration.

Are any guys on here muslim, do Muslims just pretend women outside of the family don't exist? Like, if you see your friend, would you just pretend his wife is not there? How does it work in day to day life, just seems like either its crazy, or there must be a lot of exceptions. Khabib seems normal with female reporters, like Olivi, why not just nod towards her or smile at her without touching, are they not supposed to do even such little things with other women?

Those who follow their faith strictly don't look at, shake hands or talk to women outside their own home. You can see in Khabib's interviews, he almost never looks at female reporters while he's talking to them. He's even looking in the completely opposite direction more often than not. I'm not a muslim but know a bit about them.

Generally speaking, yes. I've seen places where fully covered women work as store clerks, but majority of customers in those places are also women. Basically, any kind of interaction between a man and women that isn't family is to be avoided.
