Media How GOOD was Anderson Silva Actually?

GOAT MW. Nobody's even close.

Hard to imagine anybody disrespecting him was watching at the time.

Unfortunately he took PED's, so it taints his legacy...
But he had positive tests only after the Diaz fight?
so if he started with PEDS after Weidman KOd him his legacy is maybe clean ?

He was ok, had a lot of lucky wins, I wouldn’t call him a can but once weidman exposed him he lost his aura of invincibility and people realized he was just a moderately skilled fighter that had a lot of favorable matchups and got away with years of steroid abuse.
Lucky? Dude straight murdered everybody he fought for over a decade. Was never in a competitive fight until Sonnen, when Silva was in his late 30's. And as for steroids, nearly everybody he fought was popped or on TRT.

Level of competition is what has to be looked at. Who are his best wins and how good were those fighters? PED usage is a tough one and one of the reasons why I don’t consider him an all-time great.
Hmm. How good was Henderson? Belfort? Forrest? Franklin? They were all champs in their own rights, so they couldn't be bad. Up until very recently, hendo and belfort were still considered exceptionally dangerous.

And PED's? Even if Andy was on them his whole career, so was nearly everybody he fought. They all, minus one or two, popped or were on "trt".

Really??? At 38 years old with a career spanning 15+ years at the time he was exposed??? You don't see how that sounds ridiculous???

Silva had one of the great runs in MMA history. He may have given away rounds but his finishing ability was brutal and profound. Absolute iron chin in his prime. Master of distance. Incredibly disciplined counter striker

There is no doubting his skills. UFC MW division may not have been the best during his era but he brutalized everybody who stepped in the cage with him

There is also no arguing that he used PEDs to became significantly bigger in his late 20's and early 30's. Keep in mind that skinny Silva was 27 when he started with PRIDE. It is not like he was 20 and still filling out. That same skinny dude became a huge 185 MW throwing guys like Franklin around 5+ years later. In many ways, he is the MW version of the Reem. A very good fighter who went all out with PEDs to blow up his body and dominate in a higher weight class

There is no doubt that results that he got in the cage. One of the best ever.

His overall legacy largely depends on how you feel about PEDs

As far as i know, the substance he allegedly took in order to heal his bone/s after he broke his leg does indeed decrease bone density or something, which kinda makes it fishy, if you ask me.
Anyways, it's hard to know who of his opponents was on something and who wasn't.
What's safe is that he was a phenomenally accurate striker and exciting to watch.

The man said it himself, there’s no dispute.

Dromostanolone Toxicity

http://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/compound/dromostanolone#section=Toxicity-Summary

Hypercalcemia is a condition in which the calcium level in your blood is above normal. Too much calcium in your blood can weaken your bones, create kidney stones, and interfere with the way your heart and brain works.

You might not experience any signs or symptoms if your hypercalcemia is mild. More-severe cases produce symptoms related to the parts of your body affected by the high calcium levels in your blood. Examples include:

Bones and muscles. In most cases, the excess calcium in your blood was leached from your bones, which weakens them. This can cause bone pain. Some people who have hypercalcemia also experience muscle weakness.

Effects of Drostanolone / Masteron (desirable)

There are principally two desirable effects of Testosterone:
physical / athletic performance enhancement (endurance, strength, faster regeneration)
physique enhancement (muscle buildup, fat loss)

C'mon that's not fair. Anderson may be among the biggest names to get busted but he is FAR from the most notorious offenders. And the second time he was exonerated. During his prime he passed the same tests everyone else had to take

Better than GSP.
Peasant!
Being the embodiment of the perfect takedown artist, Saint Georges would have put Anderson the bald on the ground with a takedown that is unpredecented in it's beauty - the Spider, desperately trying not to get immediately overwhelmed by Georges the great, would then have tried to wrap his shrouded in legend limbs around any part of Georges body, only to realize that Saint Georges is not only a luminary in the art of taking people down, but also a master at the artistry of keeping his opponent on the ground of the octagon, while simultaneously defending the arduous but futile attempts of his opponent to submit him and punishing said opponent with ground strikes which precision is only rivalled by the exactness of a swiss clockwork.
The sands of time are running low, and as the battered and hopelessly exhausted Anderson puts the last quantum of strength together for a hail mary submission, Saint Georges looks the Spider in the eye, smirks and effortlessly defends it.
...and just as the jaded Silva begins to realize his crestfallen fate, Saint Georges the great advances in position, wraps his steely yet lissome arms around the Spider's neck and puts him to sleep...

A bit of an exaggeration it’s not liked Barnett or Jones but he had steroids in his locker, in his dressing room etc so many times on videos it’s not even excusable anymore
