How do you think Chimaev would have matched up against DDP's best opponents?

Excluding Whittaker. There is Brunson, Strickland, Izzy, Till, Tavares. I think we can assume Till and Taveres would have been stopped by punches or submission. Strickland has mentioned what Chimaev is like in the gym, and Chimaev and his team have hinted at dominating Sean when they went to train at Strickland's gym. Then you look at Izzy, he has shown susceptibility to guys with decent grappling, especially wrestling. Kevin Holland is a diet Izzy, and we saw how Chimaev was able to ragdoll the taller and lankier striker. I would expect similar against Izzy, if maybe a slight bit more resistance for Khamzat. It's never easy to predict exactly how fights will go, but I definitely see Khamzat getting past the versions of opponents that DDP faced.

Brunson: Easy mauling, Khamzat is a younger better version.
Strickland: Maybe his TDD is decent, but no way he's going to stay on his feet for long.
Izzy: He's screwed, Whittaker used his wrestling to get some people even try and score it for him in their 2nd fight, Khamzat gets him down and keeps him there.
Till: Khamzat probably beats him in training every day.
Tavares: If Iron Turtle can hold him down, Khamzat has his way easy.

Honestly when you break down his wins, there's no one that I wouldn't have Khamzat a huge favorite over. Whittaker probably was best odds against Khamzat and Khamzat finished him round 1.

It's so hard to say with Khamzat. I'm hoping we'll finally get some questions answered about him.

In a five round fight, the only ones I could see him struggle with is against Strickland and Israel. Adesanya had special distance control, and the best way of beating him, just like Pereira, is to actually strike with him. I could easily see Chimaev get chinned in that one.

Strickland is very defensively sound and can also see him weather the storm and break KC down en route to a decision win.

In their prime, I’d favor Adesanya while against Strickland, I’d favor KC 70/30.

It still concerns me how mortal Chimaev looks when he does not get you out of there early.

Probably doesn't make it to the fight, or if he does, comes in 10 pounds overweight and relies on the UFC to give him a new opponent who isn't ready at all for him on the day.

Otherwise, he gets finished by them all.

Kind of crazy how much people are hyping up Khazmat in here. I saw the guy go three hard rounds with Burns. Now he's running through the whole MW division apparently with ease.

Until Khamzat suffers a defeat in the cage, it is so difficult to gauge his limitations.
Maybe he will retire undefeated like Khabib.

Burns is significantly more skilled and well rounded than these middle weights khamzat hasn't fought.

Well I guess we will see. I'm not convinced that is the case but you could be right. I know I've certainly thought fighter A is significantly better than B and been wrong many many times to the point I don't even make that assumption anymore unless they fight.

Dude is a glass cannon. He can beat anyone in the division on a good night but struggles with Gilbert Burns on a bad night. Khamzit has no possibility of fighting as much as DDP to find out based on past history. Will be a terrible champ if he wins

What made Burns such a tough fight was that he was the only one at WW he didn't want to use his A-game (grappling) on.

It was also his first top opponent.

Since then he was more dominant in round 1 vs Usman and round 1 vs Rob, where he just implemented his regular game plan.

Izzy, Strickland, Tavares, Brunson, etc, don't have the BJJ to make Khamzat not want to take them down, so it would probably have been easier.
