How does this differ from a normal jab? I've always been taught to step into my jab.
Right on. You're obviously too busy in the back end of the costume.
losing your aggression? he almost immediately fires off a counter shot at nate when he regains his balance
the jab didnt rock him, the jab distracted him for the cross to land clean without Conor seeing it
Duely notedto be fair, "Boxing Basics Explained," is part of the title.
Punches to the head will do that to you. Conor gassed because he got fucking toqued upside his dome and didn't wanna be in there anymore. Aka "gassing".Conor gassed TS, move on.
Well put, ill take itYou're mixing a few things up here. A "proper" clean jab is not thrown from the entirety of your bodyweight resting on your forward foot. It is thrown from a stance where your weight is on your backfoot, and can be shifted during the course of the punch's path onto your front foot stepping forward, but doesnt have to be.
But this is not what we're talking about here. We're talking about a jab which is initiated from a stance in which the entirety of your weight is already resting on your front foot, before you make any step whatsoever. That's why it's hard to read and powerful. The risk of this technique is getting yourself Aldo'd.
Also like someone else said this thread should be in striking discussion, you'll get fewer replies, but better ones.
yeah his jab was effective, and did knock Conor off balance a couple of times. but thats because Conor was shifting his weight from one side to another. it was more about Conor being off balance than them hurting him. but the 1-2 was when he got rockedWatch the fight again, Nate's jab was definitely putting in work, snapping Conor's head back and a couple even wobbled him. The sequence you're talking about though is Nate's tried and true, he's lumped up quite a few fighters with his 1-2 and even knocked Jim Miller down with it.
Id say Ive been the least salty Conor fan on here, Im just pointing out to you that you are incorrect.... about both your observation that it "rocked" Conor, and clearly about your definition of the word rocked. if that bothers you, dont make threads on sherdogWhats with this crazed desperation here? That's obviously not the crux of the argument.
It is because you, and you alone- that I was forced to define Rocked so that you would understand what I meant by it. It's on the previous page but i'll post it for you here:
"Rocked: Struck so hard that the blow knocked you completely off balance from a balanced position."
Now can we get over this and you go back to being salty about Conor instead of what you pictured in your own head when read the word "rocked."

Conor doesn't seem rocked by that one, just touched by it like he was touched by many strikes before it. The cross that hit him on the other hand, is clearly what ROCKED him. Every analyst I've seen came to the same conclusion, that it was the 1-2.And here is exactly what getting rocked by a jab wiht no set up motion looks like:

He is knocked off balanced and doesn't recover before getting rocked again 30 seconds later.
So weird that something so plain and simple requires justification.
Wasn't Nates power, more Conors lack of striking defense. The dude can't even keep his hands up, his striking defense is made from aggression. He just was in their with a better boxer plain and simple. Nothing really to it, the dude just has no striking defense and paid the price.I'm still shocked that McGregor got so easily rocked. Nate Diaz is a very good fighter and has teed off on some guys, but I can't really recall him demonstrating any sort of ability to turn a fight around with one shot.
