Until the late 90's Native people were still being taken out of their homes and put into residential schools that were specifically designed to destroy culture, language, religion, etc. everything with having to do with being Native. Native culture was destroyed and buried in a committed genocide. To have the mentality that Natives are simply lazy, drunk or unmotivated is grossly incorrect. I did not argue any of this.

I asserted that British/European enlightenment values are vastly superior and more conductive to a free society with high standards of living than any other developed system.

The fact that atrocities happened through out history is a function of our biology and competition for resources. Europeans are not the only ones guilty of that, but they are the best at it. But you also have to admit that thanks to European philosophers, the concept of universal human rights is ingrained in our society and is slowly being spread across the globe. It may not be perfect, but it's the best starting point towards moving away from the atrocities constantly being committed.
