Colonialism was not only par for the course back then, it was almost expected. We were started as a colony of Britain ffs, as was Canada (Britain and france obviously, and Russia in the BC part IIRC). After that we had Manifest Destiny which resulted in the rest of the tribes being either pushed West or placed on Reservations.

I'm not saying those were good things, but they were certainly not abnormal for the time period.

Makes perfect sense to me. If you talk to Muslims in Germany, they are often pretty worried about Middle Eastern migrants, too.

Two reasons I would suppose:

1) They know these groups more intimately and are aware of issues that come with them. Often, they actually fled the circumstances in which these very people lived. Imagine you migrate to the US from Guatemala. Aside from Guatemalans you inevitably will surround yourself with initially, would you want many more to come? Probably not.

2) Related to the first: Who will end up interacting with them in a daily basis? Hispanics, most likely.

3) If you or your parents waited in line to get here, you won't want to see others skipping the queue (a sentiment I have seen written here often).

Nope. For the better part Natives lived in peace. Most battles were fought among the top warriors and never resulted in death.

It was the whites that fled their homeland escaping oppression because they were murdering each other at a high rate, raping their family members, eating each other and lived in filth. Natives taught the whites how to clean themselves.

Native people saved the immigrants from themselves and then got stabbed in the back by them. Native people weren't equipped to deal with such savagery and were shocked at how horrible the immigrants were and still are to this day.
