How did Khabib survive the guillotine?

Do you guys actually believe that Khabib intentionally got himself into guillotine? I'm no expert by any means but why would he do that? Takes a whole lot of confidence. There's always a risk of going to sleep, isn't there?

He said he did for the second one.

a guillotine is not a rear naked choke... you've got to get it in perfectly for it to be a true blood choke and even then it's not gonna put you out as fast

that first one did have Khabib in a rough spot tho, he did everything your supposed and even then you could even see him falling over to his side a bit to relieve the pressure. Someone like Rockhold would have used that to rise to a full mount.

that second one was Dustin's last ditch effort and I don't think it ever had any chance of working
Spoilers: guillotines aren't even blood chokes.

By staying calm and applying the correct technique. Khabib was on the wrong side to defend at first, but did everything correctly apart from that. He has great awareness of what is happening.
This is the answer. Also porier said in the post fight conference, he wished he had him in full guard so it would have worked better and khabib would have had a more difficult time getting out. There is some truth to it

I thought he was done. But Khabib has made so many jokes about Conor being TAP MACHINE, he'd rather go to sleep than tap.

This. He was in trouble for a moment and momentarily adjusted to save himself. Khabib would NEVER roll to his back unless it was serious

Exactly. You arent going to bait so badly that you're actually being choked and have to give up position to breathe again.

How do you defend from going to sleep? Dustin had that locked in tight until his arm couldn't squeeze anymore and khabib slipped out. How did he defend that? The fight could have been over right there if Khabib went to sleep

Got his back to the mat

Back to mat relieve pressure beautiful technique I like how he did multiple times to gas Dustin arms he made him think he had

I don't think he did it to gas the arms, it got re-adjusted a couple of times, and Khabib got his back to the mat to defend the re-adjustments. Then took advantage of the gassed arms immediately.

I was surprised Poirer tapped to be honest, what does it say when a woman in Holly Holms would rather be put to sleep.

He kept moving from side to side and creating space. Dustin was seriously tired at that point, so I'm sure the squeeze wasn't all that tight. Lastly, Khabib is an experienced grappler. In that situation, you just have to remain calm and fight the choke. Unless it is absolutely locked in, you're not going to sleep.

Why do you people always talk about Conor?
Khabib fought Dustin, not Conor.
Stop thinking about him.
I can talk about who tf i want
Khabib, Tony, Nate are all warriors. If Conor was caught in a similar situation he would've tapped

If you actually listen to Khabib's interview afterward, he said (of giving your neck for a guillotine), "Very few people know how to do this."

People simply don't realize Khabib is a Master Grappler. He calmly makes subtle moves and adjustments, removing the pressure from his neck, calmly extracting it, and then proceeds to go about beating your ass, because of the top position he achieved while you foolishly thought you had something.

The crowd may have got excited about Dustin's guillotine; however, the truth is Khabib gave it to him to achieve top position. The amount of world-class grappling experience Khabib has is simply unmatched by other MMA fighters.
Khabib didn't give the guillotine. He stated in the post-fight interview that it "was very close." Why would a master grappler give up a dangerous position?

A master grappler would know how to get into a dominant position without give up too much. However, if he makes a mistake like all humans do, then he will know how to correct it while limiting further damage.

Conor is in your head.
Do you dream about him?

It looked tight, but Dustin didn't have Khabib in his guard, or his other arm under. Hard to finish the choke that way.

Khabib risked giving his head since was fairly confident could escape with good position. Khabib did not let Dustin fully wrap up and he rocked a little to loosen. Dustin should have went for a sweep or something in hindsight but he was exhausted and probably hoping for a miracle.Guillotines risky if fail especially without full guard. Later in the fight they are sweaty plus tiring. Towards end of a round guillotines better chance to ride out clock if fails. Oh well Dustin game plan did not go well. Khabib just that good.

It says she's weak mentally that she allowed her ego to control her, when you are in check mate you accept the loss rather than throwing the chessboard across the room in a tantrum.
