How did Avengers become bigger than Justice League?

You haven't watched any of the Marvel movies?
You're aware that they have made an entire connected movie universe, aren't you?
DC movies have largely been bad. There is a reason why Marvel movies are making hit after hit, and DC is not.
Quality.

I’ve seen a couple X-Men, saw a chunk of the first Captain America and thought it was flat out terrible.

I find many characters just flat out corny looking. Maybe if the movies were a bit darker, like The Crow or V for Vendetta, I would watch but overall, I look at most superhero movies and just can’t get into.

Yeah, i didn't think Begins was great, but not bad either. Solid origin story imo.

Yeah, see, this is what everyone says about MoS. I don't even disagree. I like Michael Shannon, but I did think he was a bit too much, and everyone seemed to hate the moral dilemma ,AND that he actually killed Zod. But that was like 3 mintues of the movie, and that seems to be all people remember of it.
Up until that point, i thought it was pretty good. The movie as a whole gets judged way too harsh

I forgot about WW. I was in the middle on that one. I like Chris Pine, and i thought he and Gadot had some good chemistry. The movie fell apart in the end with that final fight scene with Ares. But like MoS, i thought it was decent up until the end

Well, the whole scene where Supe's dad essentially lets himself die just to prove a point was also kinda silly. Man of Steel had a lot of potential, but the way it was put together just seemed kinda cheesy. But damn, I really do like Cavill as Superman. Much better than Brandon fucking Routh.

That final scene was pretty damn absurd, and I didn't really care how they portrayed Ares either. His design was pretty spot on, but there was way too much CGI to enjoy that fight scene imo.

At least it was better than Suicide Squad. Holy shit what a dumpster fire that was.

I'll tell you one part of Man of Steel that I found real stupid. Superman had just leveled 3/4 of the fucking city, and killed who knows how many thousands of people. Yet, he's so damn upset when he has to kill Zod to stop him from killing a couple more humans. Worst.
Yeah, everyone seems to hate and gripe on that .
I completely get it, but that was like 10 minutes of the movie. I find it crazy that that is all people seem to remember of the movie.

And in fairness, it wasn't like Superman was trying to kill people. It wasn't like he chose the battleground.
There's a difference between killing someone with your barehands, and people dying from the chaos of the clash

DC films are largely panned because of their reliance on cliches, which makes them extremely predictable.

I've seen every DC film released in the new era since Superman Returns, and can attest that each and every film with the exception of The Dark Knight were uninspired snooze fests. And frankly, The Dark Knight's success was completely due to Ledger's remarkable performance... not Bale or Eckhart.

DC has great characters and story arcs, however each film translation has been a massive letdown given how rich the source material is. His critique is valid, as myself and many others felt the same way.

His critique of all superhero movies are invalid considering he's pretty much only watched Batman movies besides Watchmen. Sweeping statements don't work.

My critique of the entire Alien, Predator and Men in Black franchises wouldn't make sense too if the only extra terrestrial movies I've ever watched are Independence Day 1 & 2 and Mars Attack.

The Xmen movies aren't done by Marvel studios, and i found those to be terrible for the most part.
If you are looking for dark then you should check out 'Logan'.
"Comic book movies" don't have to be the goofy kids books you seem to think they are. Logan is dark as hell, rated R, and has more of an old Western feel to it
I'd also recommend Captain America :Winter Soldier, it functions as more of a spy/government conspiracy thriller than a "comic movie"

Oh yeah, that scene with Superman's dad was really the only one that bugged me. I was fine with the other stuff ,but that scene just made no sense.
I liked Cavill as Superman too though, and i thought Russel Crowe was great as Jor El.
Ugh...yea..Suicide Squad made me angry watching it. Complete garbage.
And i hate Leto's Joker

Watch the 2nd and 3rd Captain America films.

The first is pretty campy, and honestly kind of terrible, but the next two are MUCH better.

They're darker, a bit more grounded in realism, and aren't nearly as corny as their predecessor.

I’ve heard good things about Logan, a few friends told me to give it a go. May watch it in the upcoming days.

Feel free to report back if you do end up watching.
I'd be curious to see if that one swayed your opinion any

It really feels weird watching Batman with all the rest poor characters. Most if not all Batman movies were great. I even enjoyed Batman vs Superman. But Superman movies and Wonder Women movies were not good enough imo.

Before Justice League we needed another good Batman movie, something to blow our minds, perhaps introducing us with some other characters of the League too.

Too rushed, does not feel like Batman and Superman being over powered. I really like BvS, because Batman found a belivable way to defeat Superman which was great.

Back to the thread question the answer is obviously a better transition to the big screen and a larger demographics.

The 60s 70s had more dc based characheters and shows be successful than marvel. This carried through to tv and movies in the 80s and 90s it wasnt until spiderman in 2001 that things started to shift.

While nolans batman franchise was largly well recieved, every other dc movie with the exception of wonderwoman has been a collasal failure where as dc. Marvels had their own failures along the way, sonys Spiderman, the hulk movies...fantastic 4. But generally speaking they've dismissed what doesnt work and continue with what does. So we really only remember their wins and all but forget their failures which builds their brand and reputation of making great movies.

Until that 'Martha' scene

In terms of how things evolved I would say one important influence might well have been Pixar's The Incredables. That film to me actually feels like more of a trial run to the MCU than anythign else prior, a bit more heavy on the comedy perhaps but with the same sense of fun running though it without actually disrespecting its own setting plus indeed high quality action that actually uses the heroes powers in original ways rather than just a load of explosions.
