McGregor is going to change RDAs life. Win or lose; RDA should be thankful the UFC is giving him Conor.

Has gone out of his way to train with people better than him in his weak areas - check
Actually comes from humble beginnings and has made it - check
Respectful and humble - check
Family man and a role model - check

But let's be honest - he is not outspoken, loud, or much of a trash talker.
 
Making a thread about how unpopular he is sure isn't going to help.

Anyway, I enjoy watching dos Anjos fight. Outside of fighting, the God loving interviews are meh, but there's others like that. Also, he's managed by that lunatic, Abdelaziz.
 
Lack of Charisma, English not his first language. He's a fucking fantastic fighter though.

lol @ being excited for a Mousasi fight. when he's not getting outclassed by elite fighters, he's jabbing with his eyes closed for 15 minutes
 
Everyone wants to blame the UFC or the fans. The simple explanation is that he lacks charisma and doesn't put much effort into marketing, nor does he have a particularly exciting or dramatic style. Those are the three biggest reasons some fighters are more popular than others. I get that it's the promotions job to promote him, and I do think they could do a better job of promoting RDA. But from what I see, those efforts act as a multiplier of a fighter's natural charisma and marketing efforts, and thus in RDA's case would likely only produce marginal results. If he put more effort into interacting with media, he'd be more popular.

FWIW, he isn't all that unpopular, especially on Sherdog, where few fans seem to have a problem with him. Most seem to recognize that he is on quite a tear.

One last thing to consider is the Khabib factor. Khabib is the only guy to beat him in his last ten or eleven fights, but Khabib ragdolled him around the ring. Beating Khabib or having Khabib drop out of the long term title picture would remove a cloud over his LW reign.

It's tough to connect to the audience with the language barrier
 
Because he had to pull out of the biggest fight of his life. That Conor fight was a ton of exposure and unfortunately he got hurt
 
he should be on the 200 card. I think nelson and lewis could be main event on a fight pass card no problem.
 
Pretty obvious it's because he doesn't have a "personality" like it or not.
