I prefer not to think... It helps with many things but it makes many things horrifying too. Outside of jobs being plummeted even in specific fields, the internet itself is cramping with click bait short AI garbage content

TS here. Yeah, so far it's not exactly what I was aiming for. I was asking less about the AI Apocalypse, and more about how courts can avoid getting duped, how companies and regular folk can avoid or at least resist getting defrauded, etc. More like "AI Con Artists" than "AI Overlords".

I'm amazed at how slowly regulations have been brought in to counter people using AI to make exact copies of people's appearances and so on, making music in the style of living or dead artists must surely have some kind of copyright infringement, so who is profiting from AI in such a way that they don't feel the need to restrict these things

Law enforcement should be worried video evidence will not be able to be used in a court of law if you can fake a video on a smartphone. A.I will also be a million years ahead of human intelligence it is probably predicting what we will do right now to counter A.I taking over.

I'm asking about deception, fraud, frame-ups, etc. Some AI is easy to detect, but people are already falling for it. There's a thread in the heavies about Joe Rogan getting duped by an inspirational AI-Khabib clip. Even if you think Rogan is dumb, how hard will it be to avoid being duped by AI as it, and it's users, become more skilled?

Do there need to be protocols to filter it out in important contexts? Will that even be possible? People could wind up getting killed from AI-generated media showing them to have done or said the wrong things.

Then again, on the flip side, I can see people using AI as a Get Out of Jail Free card. "Oh no. That ain't me, its an AI hoax."

Depends on the regulations put in place. My optimism isn't high given who's developing and controlling it but I'm not full doomer either. It's another concerning blip on the radar among many for me at the moment, but there's nothing I can do about it. The fakery stuff is actually the least of my concerns for meow, the fact that it's being used in war and is coming for people's jobs is what has more of my attention. It's also not true "AI" yet.

All that said... probably pretty bad, especially with the world functioning as it does presently.

Sure, why not?! We'll prob have some advances in med tech that they will throw bones to the plebs, MAYBE. No way, economically it'll get better for us, they want everything. I hope i'm wrong and anybody is free to provide counter evidence to me and you know what, good for you if you "prove' me wrong, but what in god's green earth, makes you think that THEY have our best interests at heart?! Are they showing it now? Why would it chage with advanced AGI? I think the only hope is if AGI is somehow benevolent and becomes our "god" OR some techno nerd merges with it and becomes the ruler of world and has epiphany and becomes a good demi-god to us, giving us all we need, but really that's a dream isn't it?

I agree with a lot of what you said. But I feel reasonably certain that for good or bad, money will have 0.00 utility for AGI. AGI will 'care' only for the most efficient use of the resources.
