The domestication of dogs was not done out of some kind of preservation motivation. If you actually believe this you are delusional. Humans oversee the breeding of dogs for the purposes of imprisoning them as their property.
The entire premise that you suggest "taking care" somehow nullifies that the dogs don't have a choice is interesting. Let me put it this way. Lets say it's the year 1800 and some liberal folks of the day decided to purchase a black kid. They hand over $50 and a kid is then taken from his mother and given to the new white owners. Lets say the white owners are actually pretty nice and let him live in the same house, they feed him..etc. Is this a ok situation? They are taking care of him after all and not putting him into labor compared to the other black kids of the time.
