Horizon: Zero Dawn (robot dinosaurs)

Anyone explore a cauldron yet? Just completed my first one. Holy fucking shit this game is awesome and yes it's the best looking game ever

I'm about 18 hours into it now. The cauldron was pretty cool. Even after playing it so much the past few days, the beauty of the game still surprises me. I think it first hit me with the first interaction with the long neck. The story really picks up as well. So far my only real complaint is that I don't see any replay value but I will definitely get any DLC.

Got my first long neck and conquered my first outpost last night. This game ticks all the right boxes for me. Except combat can get a bit clunky. Is there a lock on button I'm missing?

Good lord man.....I need to buy this damn gamn today on the PSN store. Can't hold out any longer.

What game would you compare this to the most? Is it like Legend of Zelda? Borderlands? Far Cry?

Borderlands, no. Too early to really draw connections to Zelda.

I'd say Far Cry (for the gathering/outpost clearing/hunting/crafting), Witcher (using your senses to solve "cases"), and Uncharted (climbing/etc).

The combat, while I'm really loving it, I still haven't hit my groove. I don't think there is a lock on(feel like their shouldn't be), but coming off of a big Dark Souls run I keep clicking R3 to try and lock on onto targets.

I'm not a big FPS/Shooter guy, but when I do play them I always end up playing with some sort of auto rifle because I'm not the most accurate with my shots. So I lean towards quantity over quality. Not quite spray and pray bad, I'll use sights but I'm going for center mass over head shots.

Horizon is forcing me to play the accuracy game, and I haven't found my bearings yet. I think when I unlock the next tier of Concentration and get a little more time in, this will smooth out. Only like 6ish hours in so far so I'm still a little clumsy.

Fuck it I'm getting this. No way I'm getting even halfway through before Mass Effect comes out though.

I got the game a couple days ago and have put in around 12 hours so far. I have to say, this might be one of my favorite games ever. Its like they took all the good elements from the games I like (Far Cry, Witcher, Shadow of the Colossus, Skyrim, etc) , removed the bad ones, smashed them all together, and then threw an intriguing and engaging story on top of it all. Its very well done and I am loving the gameplay so far. What's surprised me most is the story, love the whole sci-fi meets fantasy vibe. I dont usually care for the storylines in games but this one is an exception. If anyone is on the fence about this game I'd say this is a no brainer, pick it up. This game has not disappointed me so far and has definitely lived up to the hype.

Ran into two Sawtooth's doing a side quest. Took one out with traps then decided to get up close for the second. Not the best idea when using Fire Arrows. Accidentally hit the cannister and got blowed up to all hell.

Man this game is fun. Witcher + Far Cry. I'm happy there's no lock on either, makes archery more intense.

Finally hitting my stride in this game and my archery is really coming together. Got the second Concentration upgrade so able to pick my shots a lot better. Also the combo of Lure and Silent Strike is fucking ridiculous at taking out groups of enemies. Just hide in some grass, lure the closest enemy, one shot Silent Strike, loot, call next enemy.

Exploring is just so much fin in this game. Cleared my first Cauldron, climbed up a long neck, cleared some bandit camps, ran in to a corrupted zone. Finding it really hard to get any main quest items done.

One of the pains of playing games at launch is almost no resources for the first few weeks.

Made my way to a new outpost and saw some nice purple armor I wanted, plenty of scraps, even after I bought 2 shadow bows, just needed a shell walker heart. Looked up Shell Walkers to see if I've even run across them. Oh good, scene quite a few, just can't remember where. Took a good bit of searching to find a map with a spawn site. Saved the site since it showed where everything else spawns, so I sure I'll visit the a lot.

You can't get it until late in the game and its a bit of a hassle to get, but the ancient armor is incredible. You can take out the t rex machines and the storm birds without even taking damage.

I got all blazing suns in the hunting grounds. They were easy but i waited until I was too overpowered. The upgraded weapons are only a small improvement over the shadow ones. The nice is all the xp you get. 17,500 for just one. So 15 of those was pretty nice.

Took down a Thunderjaw and was pleasently surprised by his loot drops. Dropped 3 purple weapon mods and a Braided Coil which I used to buy a Shadow Slingshot. Decided to set up shop for a bit and farm him for some more mods. 2nd round went a lot smoother with the new Sling Shot loaded with purple Freeze mods and Ropecaster to lock him into place, then I can pretty easily take out his pieces to limit his damage output. He's dropping great loot, but man does it take a ton of resources to take out having to constantly build expensive ammo for the Ropecaster mid fight.

In both fights I knocked off his Disc Launchers, but didn't stumble across them until after the fight and I was looting the battle field. Next fight I need to make it a point to use these against him since I've heard they wreck him, plus when he's frozen he seems to take double damage.

I just picked up this game yesterday. Good lord it's amazing so far. I just finished The Proving and stopped it at the point we have to fight off the archers. Amazing atmosphere, graphics, smoothness of gameplay. It's only been about 2 hours for me so far, but so far i'm extremely impressed with this game. so glad I picked it up, despite never really being into open world games too much.

Refined my Thunderjaw farming technique and got it down to a few minutes, very little damage, and only a few resources. Took him out 5 times in about 20 minutes, and boosted all of my mods to purple across all my weapons and armor.

I'm farming the spot in between Meridan and locked and locked gates in the snowy mountains, can't remember the name but there is a bonfire right next to a Thunderjaw spawn. Sneak up to him in the grass and while hidden I use detonating arrows from my Sharpshooter bow to one shot each of his disc launchers. If you're aim is on you can take them both out before he even spots you, once the launchers are gone I use the Ropecaster to lock him down, then the Slingshot to lob ice bombs on him. Once he's locked in place and frozen I pick up one of his Disc Launchers and unload on him.

The double damage from being frozen does insane damage. The lowest damage I've seen was 450, but usually hits for around 600~700 and 1000+ is pretty common. My last run I must have landed a perfect hit on a weak spot because it did 3052 damange and knocked everything off his face. Can easily drop him with the ammo from one of his Disc Launchers but there are 2 just in case. Run takes under 4 minutes, uses 2 detonating arrows, 5 rope cast, 4 ice bombs and usually take no damage. Aside from the 3 guranteed purple drops usually walk away with 200+ metal scraps, other random resources and 3000+ exp.

I think I'm done farming him now that I'm all decked out probably through the end of the game.

Is that the one that requires the power cells?

If so that place trolled me hard. Had 2 of them, thought I had obtained Armor.

Nope, 3 more required.:(

Same thing happened to me. After I figured out I needed 3 more, I went on a search and eventually found 2 more. I broke and checked online and the last one was in an area only unlocked farther into the story. The odd thing is the game warns you to finish all errands before starting a mission but you need to do that mission before you can get the last cell.
