Horizon: Zero Dawn (robot dinosaurs)

Platinumed this yesterday. Easily one of the best games I have ever played. Epic story with incredible gameplay.

As to people asking what to compare it to... I would call it fallout level of exciting discoveries combined with combat that was more "open and fun" and a movement system that was very "free run" and liberating.

Having gotten to try out all the skills and weapons I can honestly say there are a ridiculous number of ways you can and should deal with situations. Assassination, mind control, bow them down, set up complicated traps, status effects that dramatically effect combat, drive enemies crazy, and my favorite by far... shooting off the enemies weapon with tear arrows and blasting it away with its own completely overpowered weapon

Just amazing!

Same thing happened to me. After I figured out I needed 3 more, I went on a search and eventually found 2 more. I broke and checked online and the last one was in an area only unlocked farther into the story. The odd thing is the game warns you to finish all errands before starting a mission but you need to do that mission before you can get the last cell.

That's not what that means. There are two quests you can't walk back out of when you enter. That's all it means. You have to finish that quest before moving on. It's only one dungeon no worries.

This game is not at any point awful to you a la ff15 stripping your powers and taking away the rest of the game for a long time.

Just platinumed it. First game I've ever done that with. Really great game. I knew it was going to be pretty but the story and the quality of combat surprised me.

Aught got a game breaking get bug on the seeker at the gates quest.

I was level 25 now I have to start all over. Wouldnt of been too bad if i hadnt continued to play for 10 more hours. Going to have to push hard to beat this before Mass Effect comes out

Borderlands, no. Too early to really draw connections to Zelda.

I'd say Far Cry (for the gathering/outpost clearing/hunting/crafting), Witcher (using your senses to solve "cases"), and Uncharted (climbing/etc).
It reminds me of Assassin's Creed 3 especially the stealth part.

Guessing I'm half way through the game, maybe more. Just finished the quest The Grave Hoard and started getting some real information on the worlds lore and what happened with the Ancient Ones. The lore is really fascenating and while climbing around in the last 2 mission, I was scouring the levels making sure I didn't miss any data points so I could read/listen to all of the information. Have some theories on what Zero Dawn was, can't wait to find out how all of the pieces fall into place.

Normally in games like these I do all of the side content before I tackle the main story, but the story is so interesting my side quests are all stacking up, only breaking free to take care of all of the Cauldrons and Longnecks.

Haven't even gotten to the first cauldron yet (don't even know what that is), but have been doing every side mission I come across (when I'm not taking in the greatness that is Zelda, lol).

The vantage points are awesome. Makes me curious as to what happened to Earth.

I was trying to play Horizon and Zelda at the same time, but there is quite bit of similarity in the gameplay and the button lay out is pretty different. I kept fucking up at critical times so I decided to put Zelda down and finish Horizon first since I'm loving H:ZD and already had 10ish hours in before I picked up the Switch.

I was on the fence but the thread convinced me to get it sometime this week. Do all/most of you play on the Pro? Feel like I'm missing out with just my regular PS4 lol

My buddy has it on the Pro and says it's better, but that the base PS4 model is still one of the best looking games around.

I have a pro myself, but have yet to use it because I'm too lazy to migrate all my shit over.

I'm on the regular PS4, and it's the best looking game i've played on it.

Finished the first Cauldron, damn that was one cool looking location. Felt like I was in an Alien movie.

More like the Matrix.

The robo vibe is taken from an old sci-fi flick with Peter Weller, Screamers.

Good film with much of the vibe you feel in this game.

I'm playing it on the Pro, but only have a 1080P TV. In the settings I chose frame rate over resolution. The game might be the best looking one i've ever seen.

Made it into the GAIA facility and uncovered the rest of story of what happened to the ancients.

I was guessing that Project Zero Dawn was some sort of an ark with people in cryo sleep, since they had mentioned it earlier in the story. Was really bummed out when I found out that Zero Dawn was a biosphere reset switch and everyone died to the Faro Plague. I loved reading/listening to all of the logs in the different facilities as they unveil more of the story as you progress, but some of the stuff was really gut wrenching.

I didn't have time to finish up the mission in the GAIA facility so there is still more story to uncover, and I can't wait to hear the rest of the story. The Last of Us was probably the last game I played where I was so invested in a story. TLoU had the better overall story + character development, but Horizon has been a great ride so far.

Just got to meridian. Cool that all the dumb little collectibles can be traded for cool stuff.

I'm absolutely loving this game so far. It's looking like a top 5 all time for me, if it continues to be this epic throughout.
