Holly "spar master" Holm looked OLD..

U is for the undercard you should fight on

S is for the sweet reebok t shirt they gave you

A is for the aroma we couldn't smell test you

D is for Dana not showing your head kick ko or ronda in your highlights

A is for the level you can't compete at anymore

Her punches were mostly sparring punches, with a few exceptions. It appears that if you do not run your face into her fists, she may forget to actually land anything.

Seems to be a common thing among high level strikers in MMA.

It is possible she is aging physiologically a little early and that might have something to do with her performance. One thing I will say is that I have friends in the fight world who told me there was no way in hell that Holm was completely "au naturale" in the Ronda fight. And if that is true, and she has since weened off of it, that could partly explain her recent struggles. There is no question that the current Holm is NOT the Holm that beat Ronda.

I have to agree with you especially since her sponsor is the Balco of MMA

Women tend to peak athletically sooner than men across most sports by a 2-3 years. So, that 34 years old is probably more like 36 years for an equivalent male athlete. I don't think that's why she lost, but her window is definitely closing.

She looked like a woman who had a bad weight cut. She couldn't kick at all and looked weak. I think shes too big for that cut.

hollys knockdown wasnt some power strike that rocked val, it was just a shot while val was kicking, and had no way to stop herself falling over, a push woulda done the same

She is either getting old or mentally wasn't as dialed up to fight as she was against Rousey, which would affect her training camp.

I recall one exchange where she lunged in with a strike that was right out of a white belt karate spaghetti sparring session and had to stop watching after that.

I have absolutely no substantiation of this, but I though Holm looked "different" even coming into the ring against Ronda.. Her pre-fight jumps were higher, and her shoulders looked stronger than they did the next time I saw her vs Tate.

And to the guy that calls tate "butterface," I know youprobably have the fantasy that insulting her would make her like you, but fact is her face isn't ugly.. At all. She's not a 10 in either face or body, but her face is cute enough.

Ronda was the only impressive fight Holly has and likely will have in the UFC. I think a patient Ronda would absolutely destroy her at this point.
lol no way
patient rhounda would get picked apart even easier
it's just a mismatch of styles
i think the chicks are evolving a bit, and holm is getting older sadly, you can see it

If Rousey tried to box with her again, sure. If she showed up in proper condition with the right game plan, I don't see Rousey not beating her.

If you look at the Rousey/Holm fight objectively, Rousey showed up and it was the worst she looked and Holm showed up and it was the best she looked. I don't know how anyone could argue differently.

Lemme clarify..

After a long career of boxing, being an olympian, and having 12 pro mma fights... Being 34 starts catching up to you..

When was Holly an Olympian?

I think more than anything right now the huge weight cuts are hurting her.

Her stance is fine. She need to commit. Her half ass kicks were frustrating to watch. She was fighting a better striker. She needed to make the fight dirty and keep her pinned against the cage and use dirty boxing to win. Her only advantage in that fight was her strength in the clinch. It would have been boring but she would have got the W.

yes. holly dominated the 2 or 3 small clinch battles. valentina's corner even said "don't go for the clinch. play at range."

Holm has never looked particularly impressive to me. That's why I didn't think she had any chance at beating Rousey. (But I'm so glad she did)

Either Holm had the performance of her life against Ronda or their styles matched up perfectly. I think it was the style.
