Fitness will carry you through.
It has carried Arlovski.
It got Econoreem farther.
Just makes for atrocious viewing.
I always felt a lot of that had to do them developing suspect chins. But now that you mention it yoel Romero and some other old pick and choose when to step on the gas. Boxers seem to be able to keep a stronger pace.

Was insults really necessary?? Don’t understand how I offended you
I'm not offened at all. I'm torn between giving you a hug in case you're a retard and ripping into because you're stupid. You literally ditched the 135 wmma division then you claimed you didn't because you'd let 135ers fight at 145 only.

Her ufc career has been very underwhelming other than head kicking Ronda. She has at times shown very poor fight IQ, gets finished in fights where she’s winning(Tate), losing decisions against opponents that aren’t even having a good performance either.

Her only other finish was Correia and she was basically begging her to hit her and she was still hesitant on that.

People give her lots of props for beating Ronda and “exposing” her. I sometimes wonder how Ronda and her team let her do that her. She’s always looked very beatable/unimpressive in most her fights and has even lost to worse fighters than Ronda was.

I don’t say this just based on her recent fight but I just never found Holly impressive at all other than the the Ronda fight.

It comes to a point in every fighters career where they have their back against the wall and they are trying to stay competitive, aka don't get Ko'd or submitted and live on to see the next fight.

I'm pretty sure that's what Holly Holm and AA train to do. Looking for a finish is out of the question due to the risk involved and thus point fighting to a decision loss/win is their goal

Holly’s career has been an interesting one. Not only has her techniques really stayed the same. I always got the vibe she was a little bit more scared to fight in MMA as opposed to boxing. Then the older she got the more safe she seemed to play it. Where other girls like Nunes, Peña, Andrade, Shevchenko, Weili etc… embrace the grind so to speak.

She should quit doing her "I'm really needing to use the public bathroom" pacing before the match. Waste of energy.
Everyone has their mannerisms before a fight. She has never really had a problem with cardio, and has had almost 60 fights. So no I dont think this is a problem.

I dont think that she's scared,I think she just never embraced the grappling aspect until later in her career, but she's really just using it to stall the fight cos shes fuckin old.

It takes a lot to make the stupidest post of the day on Sherdog but you may have done it. Take a minute to appreciate the moment.
What was wrong with what he said, He's absolutley right. Almost all the girls at 145 can and do easily fight at 135

Buts the same girls just not cutting weight. Effectively the same division with a larger talent pool of fighters
so youre thinking a 140 pound division then? combine the rosters of 135 and 145? not that there would be that many FWs, but still.
sounds like an idea that could work. it would rid us of the pointless Womens FW division as well

I don't imagine that this thread will get much steam.
Holly has had a glistening breadth of career within the ceiling of WMMA and female combat sports.
Yet, she has been within MMA for 12 years and also got as stale as Ronda and as stale as Miesha.
Age aside, she has had almost identical approaches to her fights. Her combinations haven't changed. Her head angles haven't changed and one glaring hole sticks out to me.
If Holly can't get a clear shot when keeping the opponent against the cage, she will step back. Not just once, but she will step back until she backs herself up to the other side. This inevitably opens the space for her opponent attack.
Holly has always looked lost when fighting in close. So much so, that she would rather give up the pressure just to try and be in open ground. Then, her inevitably and ever weakening side push kick comes out, before she gets socked in the face.
The fact she's also 41 says a lot about WMMA. Granted, one could bring up Arlovski's 6-1 run from 2020-2022 in the men's weakest and heaviest division. But Arlovksi hasn't been in a UFC title fight since 2006. And he hasn't been close to elite competition since Ngannou flatlined him in 90 seconds in 2017.

That is the state of Winklejohn academy. All they do, is cardio/strength training and no elite level striking, boxing and wrestling/BJJ coaches. I mean, Holly has been doing MMA for more than 10 years and she is so basic in everything she does. That repetitive three punch combination she does like she is on a timer and never landing a single shot, just shows she is operating in auto-pilot mode. The only time she is actually really trying to do something is when she is walling and stalling against the fence.
I agree - Jackson / Winklejohn are to be commended for coming up with good gameplans, but throughout their tenure, they seem to have capitalized on their fighters' strengths instead of pushing them to work on their weaknesses.

maybe just throw em all together in an open weight division and allowed them to juice their fucking heads off

I'll watch that for sure
