Not anymore. 125 has evolved and it is now on par 115 arguably an even better division IMO

But you are right about enough fighters. Personally I think the solution is to combine 135/145 into one division (have all 135er fight up 10lbs) and sign more girls
145 needs to go away. Ditching the deeper, more talented, more athletic 135 would be a travesty.

all fighters know she prefers standing. she should have taken time to learn the ground game, to keep fighters guessing and get better results in her stand-up. it's mma, not kickboxing.

It seems like she hasn't grown as a fighter in a very long time, and it finally caught up with her.

I'd be fine if she left. She blessed us greatly already and even through in a hilarious beche ko for good measure.

But she was boring before and she was boring after. And, ugh, again, shes not easy on the eyes, so I'm not gonna tune in.

Obligatory “Holly was never any good” day-after thread. Iz n0ma1

To be fair, she started using grappling offensively to pursue a GnP and control strategy in some of her latest fights, and she did well with it. Yesterday she got caught with a tricky and not very common submission. She looked good until the choke. But she is getting up there in age for this line of work. She is still in better shape than most, though.

she hasnt really improved a lot herself. her skill set has remained at what it has been when she blasted ronda with that head kick. i believe that womens mma has just gotten better. they have found a better overall pool of talent. there still isnt many women in gyms today, but there are a lot more now than there was 10 years ago. i also see many more junior womens wrestlers when i take my son to his meets and camps. when i was in high school we had one girl in the entire conference. my sons team alone has 8. and we are on the lower end of female competitors. there are at least 40-50 female wrestlers in the conference now. women in combat sports is estimated to increase by over 300% in the next 10-20 years. holm hit her peak years ago. its a great peak to have. the competition is just that much better now. and its only going to get better. there will be a time in the future were all the women fighting are like cyborg and nunes. and then all us wmma haters will repent for our sins. and we will happily watch, instead of getting up to shit or grab a beer. plus holm is 41.

I don't know about that. Women's boxing and kickboxing have been around since the 70s or before that and they're all pretty shit (with the odd exception, especially in muay thai as those little thai girls have vicious knees).

Women can be great at BJJ, but based on how shit current world level boxers are, I don't think things will improve to the point where every chick is a Valentina or Nunes.

The only way around this is if they all juice up like pride era wanderlei etc. There's a brazilian chick called Pacheco in PFL who was a scrub in the UFC, but has juiced up and is a nunes-esque beast now.

No more main events but she is fine to keep around as a gatekeeper for up and coming 135 contenders.

You literally said to have all the 135ers fight up 10lbs ......thats ditching it. If 135 are all fighting at 145 then there isn't a 135.... Holy fuck,,,,

Buts the same girls just not cutting weight. Effectively the same division with a larger talent pool of fighters
