Holder Warns Public Schools Against Rejecting (illegal) Immigrants

Basic education is a human right.

So barring undocumented children from school would effectively deny a certain class of 8, 10, 12 year olds a basic education. That sort of shit is straight out of a Muslim fundamentalist theocracy.

Not surprisingly, the right-wingers here are in unanimous support of it.

And you are the arbiter of what consists of a human right? You know it requires people's time and resources to provide services. You don't have a right to other people's lives. It's a charity.

Please substantiate the "basic human right" claim.

Please substantiate the comparison to Muslim fundamentalist theocracy.

I'm curious how this argument came to be.

It involves reaching into your ass and pulling something out of it. I forget the technical term.

How can you have a basic human right to a teacher's labor?

Is it your position that the United States is obligated by basic human rights to pay for the education of every child on planet earth? Or just those whose parents manage to sneak into the US?

We deny 96% of the earth's population from getting free education via our school system. Yet you only criticize right-wingers because many left wingers want to deny "only" 95.49% instead.

illegals don't come here for the view, they come here for work, so you go after employers and you no longer have to worry about it. i'm all for beefing up the border but i think if you went hard after employers it would be a moot point.

Yep which is why I quoted and agreed with you a couple of pages ago.

Per the UN, article 26 states that all humans have a right to education:

http://www.un.org/en/documents/udhr/

Still doesn’t say we have to provide to people here illegally.

Article 26.
•(1) Everyone has the right to education. Education shall be free, at least in the elementary and fundamental stages. Elementary education shall be compulsory. Technical and professional education shall be made generally available and higher education shall be equally accessible to all on the basis of merit.

•(2) Education shall be directed to the full development of the human personality and to the strengthening of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms. It shall promote understanding, tolerance and friendship among all nations, racial or religious groups, and shall further the activities of the United Nations for the maintenance of peace.

•(3) Parents have a prior right to choose the kind of education that shall be given to their children

I was just showing it wasn't some crazy claim....

We already do augment education in at least several other countries. Israel, Palastine (admittedly not a country), some African nations. Here we are investing in US/North American citizens.

In any event, immigration is solely controlled by the executive branch so any objections need to be addressed to Thomas Jefferson's Customer Service Dept.

Did you have a point besides, "Fuck yeah, money for nothing!"

Boggles my mind americans can be pro-illegal immigration.

WHY CAN'T IT BE BOTH?

Why can't we go after the companies and deny any tax money to illegals?
no. conservatives can only try to close public benefits to illegals, and liberals can only try to punish businesses that hire them. we must all make sure to toe the party lines on this. anything else is unAmerican.

We have to address the process. Intake is jacked up, an obviously abused border is just bad frickin idea.

At the same time; it just...feels like there has to be some kind of limit though. It's not like people don't know they are illegally immigrating.

We do in the case of immigration, get to choose who comes. That's being taken from us, and the more...vested in this country an illegal person or family is, the greater the chance of some form of amnesty. At least in the future, it's just going that way.

This the prelude to "If you have a child enrolled..." , a set of guidelines for amnesty.

I dunno how I feel about that.

The head of the justice department is doing whatever he can to encourage lawlessness, what a surprise. Hopefully when it's all said and done Holder will get to enjoy the criminal justice system up close and personal.

Why not help Mexico improve itself so their citizens don't feel a need to come here?

lol

i'm gonna use that line in the future!

Personally, I prefer the one where he quickly shut the fuck up after a simple link showed him he was wrong.

Of course something as basic as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights isn't going to go into the specifics of funding, but it's pretty clear what the purpose is: education at least in the elementary level (children), should be made available to EVERYONE. The logical conclusion from this is that barring certain children from this education is a violation of basic human rights.

Pretty hilarious how people that aren't stupid (even though I disagree violently with them) pretend to be the dumbest of dumb fucks when they read this and come up with: derp, does this mean all 3 billion children on the planet will come to my child's elementary school next week?
