Republicans have caused their own problems. Southern Strategy politics of the 60's and 70's followed by courting disenfranchised, rural whites while tacitly supporting 'good old boy us vs them' where the 'them' was minorities women, immigrants and anyone not a WASP has now become a crutch because the voting and population demographics are becoming increasingly multicutural and urbane.
Key among this is the obvious lack of understanding among conservatives as to how and why its happening. For example, they look at Obama and say he won the black vote because he's black, instead of the FAR more realistic and factual answer of him winning the black vote because he belong to the party that garners 90% of the black vote REGARDLESS of who runs on it. Democrats are running a political campaign whereas Republicans are still running some kind of societal one despite society not being the same as what they are attempting to run on.
Tossing Marco Rubio out there and thinking some Floridian Cubano is representative of the vast majority of hispanic people in this country just because he speaks Spanish is not only insulting to hispanics, but kind of retarded as well. It shows too and we still got GOP leadership wondering why Rubio isnt pulling in all those Hispanic votes that are becoming so important in the southern states. oh well. Keep it classy.
