I'm not sure white knighting fictional scenes is what is supposed to come from this. The fact it invoked an emotional response from you means it did what it was supposed to. Scenes in films, books, tv shows are supposed to strike you on an emotional level. But don't construe this into being something other than a fictional scene, with fictional characters being portrayed by actors telling a story.
Because boy do I hope you never see Game of Thrones or the Handmaiden's Tale.

She later tries to kill him for the rape and yells at the townsmen for doing nothing about it. So, it is not portrayed as a positive thing in the film.

I think it's a hint in the beginning of the film that this character isnt exactly on the level and something is off. Foreshadowing the ending

Josey Wales is prolly my favorite as well. That too has a rape scene (He liked his then GF (Sandra Locke) to be in some funky situations)...

I hear you man. Humans are the only ones who attribute morality and what we consider nobility in our actions to define alpha qualities but being the strongest and most cunning is still what wins even if the leader is a terrible person.

As crazy and unreal as it feels to me, it's nearly 50 years ago. There's as much time between then and now as there was between the present and WW2 when I was growing up.

I hear what you're saying but at the same time I hate censorship. Where does it end? Next thing you know, they're changing the blood to sweat in mortal kombat and ruining Christmas.

to the topic, this is my favorite Eastwood movie specifically because he does shit like this in it and is not a polished hero((not cheering for the rape specifically but for the portrayal of a protagonist that isnt cookie cutter))

Whose talking censorship though? Its ok to have a discussion about the kind of garbage :eek::eek::eek::eek: filled Hollywood produces for mass consumption. When you have known scumbags and degenerates producing our films a robust discussion telling them to fuck right off is a good idea.

Also in the wild it is not always the strongest who leads. Lots of studies have shown that it is the person who can build the best relationships that leads. Sure often they're strong but that is not always the case especially in the higher mammals.

Evolution selected out that false version of alpha along time ago among the highly developed mammals. There is no reason to look to that as an example.
 
I was shocked when I first saw the edited version on tv. His character was on the evil spectrum.

This is a film set in a different time. Rape was more prevalent, women needed men to look after them.

Rape is wrong, but what the fuck has that got to do with whether it's in a period drama?

Killing people is worse, you want killing people out of movies??
