International Hezbollah pager explosions kill dozens and injure thousands in Lebanon

Have you seen the videos? Lots of these folks who got hit were in public spaces around innocent people.

I have no sympathy for the members themselves, but there are a lot of people who live there that are just trying to live their normal lives and are completely innocent.

Imagine not being involved in any of this shit and still getting hit. Have some empathy.

I'm out of sympathy for terrorists from that part of the world. Yea on one hand it sucks if you were truly innocent and got hit but I think there's a great deal of support and consent for hamas and Hezbollah in that part of the world making it very hard to muster a lot of sympathy as i dont know just how innocent a lot of people truly are. Israel shouldn't have to do things like this at all but they do . It's on the Arabs to make peace and they would rather their children die gruesome deaths than admit they have lost. So be it , I don't have any problems at all with Israel's behavior. There isn't a way to wage war without civilians getting hit that I'm aware of.

First, I never asked you to show sympathy for the terrorist groups. I said have some empathy for the innocents who are uninvolved and suffering.

Not every person there is a terrorist. They don't all deserve to die and suffer. There is a right way to fight against the terrorists, and a wrong way. This is wrong, and something other terrorist groups would do.

I agree with you that part of the reason it is difficult is because these groups look to fully integrate with the innocent population, but it really comes down to whether you want to just kill your enemy indiscriminately, or actually be ethical and measured in your approach. It's not easy to do - not saying it is - but if you don't, you are just as wicked as your enemy.

What is the right way to fight terrorists? I actually would like you to answer that.I'm American and totally aware that hearts and minds totally failed.

How does one be ethical about fighting terrorists who hide amongst civilians? This is about as surgical as a strike on a group like that can be is it not and yet here you are crying saying they are still doing it wrong.

It's easy, you just need to ask a couple thousand terrorists to come to an uninhabited place and bring Arnold, Sly and Iron Man there.
Pew-pew! USA! USA! USA!

How the fuck are y'all in here celebrating a state funded terrorist attack on not only claimed military targets, but on hospitals too; let alone a mass murder that included children?

Surgical? They had hundreds (if not more) pagers explode at once - LMAO

Do you think they knew where all of those people were? Where all of their pagers were located?

How exactly is that surgical?

You can disagree, just admit that you don't care about the ethics of war or if innocents die. I think you already kind of did.

I don't see an answer to the question I asked you there guy.

It's surgical because they didn't drop bombs or shoot missiles they tried to put the pagers with the folks they were trying to target.

War is not ethical in the slightest so I don't know what you are talking about at all.

Just admit that you want to destroy Israel and exterminate the Jews.

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:
The last hour would not come unless the Muslims will fight against the Jews and the Muslims would kill them until the Jews would hide themselves behind a stone or a tree and a stone or a tree would say: Muslim, or the servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me; come and kill him; but the tree Gharqad would not say, for it is the tree of the Jews.

Your babbling about ethics is nonsense when Hezbollah and it's sponsor subscribe to an ideology that calls for the destruction of Israel and the annihilation of the Jews.

There is no negotiation and they don't respect being nice. They only behave themselves when they think you will fuck them up for attacking you.

I hope its obvious by now that I'm not a fan of Israel but I'd like to see some investigation into the fall out of this attack before passing judgement. Even if there is collateral damage it doesn't mean there weren't reasonable steps taken to ensure civilians weren't hurt. The Biden admin is trying to pressure the Israelis into more targeted military actions and for all we know this operation was a step in that direction. Certainly seems preferable to dropping large ordinances on Southern Lebanon.

To be clear I don't want to post this as a defense of that guy's take here because he's arguing something far more radical, that it doesn't matter either way and he doesn't care if Arab civilians die. Of course I'm not saying that.

I mean... why wouldn't they? If the Israelis could install explosive devices in the pagers, why wouldn't they be able to install some sort of geolocation device as well?

I do not want that. If you can read, I said it was a very impressive military operation, and that I am happy that terrorists died.

I am simply concerned for the innocents who suffered due to the randomness of the timing. Hundreds all at once is going to hurt innocent civilians, and it did. Simply saying "they probably support the terrorists too" is not a good enough reason to me.

OK, so they purposefully exploded them when their targets were surrounded by civilians? I'd assume maybe they had a target on a few of them.. not hundreds. I don't know their capabilities.

Its a fair concern but I say let's wait until we have more facts about who got hurt/killed and what went into the operation before we pass judgement. Of course some of that stuff we'll never know for a variety of reasons but its good to wait things out a bit to see what emerges in the immediate aftermath and over time.

Agreed. If there were reasonable steps, I take back what I've said.. but it sounds right now as if innocents were hurt, so I stand by it. There are videos of them exploding on the street or in super markets with the targets literally surrounded by innocents.

Its probably impossible to carry out an operation like this without hurting some civilians, the question is what precautions did the Israelis take to minimize that? The fact that they used this kind of covert operation with smaller explosives rather than a large military operation as was being talked about some months ago does indicate to me that its part of a strategy to avoid escalation which might be good.
