He doesn't need to be a stand up God, what I saw was his stand up was better than Volk's. The major difference in the fight was Volk's ability to easily take down Yair - who basically had zero ground game.

My thoughts on it is if Yair, had better take down defense, forcing the fight to stay on their feet, I believe we may have seen a different outcome.

My thought is if he controlled distance better then that would have comprised part of the takedown defense - not allowing Volk to get so close making the shots much easier. He controls the distance and starts scoring by working hard from the opening bell moving and throwing various kicks at a distance and at different angles with fast recoil. Instead he looked more interested in watching Volk walk him down.

To be honest if Yair had even 10% of takedown defense he could have won the fight. His standup was better than Volk.

Your joking right, Yair barely landed anything. He threw so many kicks Volk saw the coming a mile away. Volk cracked Yair so many times standing. Only time Yair landed was when he was in his back and Volk was on top of him.

Yair did get smashed you realise that.

The only thing Henry is better at within MMA is actually being a the smaller guy vs Volk for a change.
CCC had success by being big at 125 and his wrestler threat in a striker heavy division with 135 at that time.
CCC has never had a great controlling top game and has only scored finishes via stoppages that were borderline early each time.He isn't big enough, strong enough or able to hit hard enough to make Volk do anything but walk him down and finish him by whatever he chooses. There is a reason Volk has fought as high as WW successfully and CCC came in at 125 to start hs career.
Volk is about as poor a match up for CCC as you could have in MMA. A strong, technical striker with excellent low kicks, who won't be held down or settle on the bottom position.

If he would have beaten Sterling then I would have been all for them fighting. It was very apparent that Sterlings size and length gave Cejudo all kinds of trouble in that fight. He'd get crushed having to go against someone with functionally the same length who is also physically larger, more powerful, and better technical striker than Sterling

I swear people make stuff up without watching fights. Before the sterling fight i would have thought maybe cejudo vs volk would be good. Volk handled Islam's wrestling who is much bigger than Henry. Henry could not even control sterling and volk is bigger / stronger. I also doubt Henry hits harder than style of the guys volk beat. Anything is possible in mma, but the likelihood of cejudo beating volk is very very low

Why did he deserve it? He could have earned that opportunity but he went into self imposed retirement and has come back having clearly lost a step, hell he could still have had a chance to push for the fight if he beat Aljo, he couldn't. Volk would beat prime Cejudo, this version he'd straight up murder.
