He doesn't need to be a stand up God, what I saw was his stand up was better than Volk's. The major difference in the fight was Volk's ability to easily take down Yair - who basically had zero ground game.

My thoughts on it is if Yair, had better take down defense, forcing the fight to stay on their feet, I believe we may have seen a different outcome.

If Volk was Yair's size he could have won by highkick. amiright?

Why did he deserve it? He could have earned that opportunity but he went into self imposed retirement and has come back having clearly lost a step, hell he could still have had a chance to push for the fight if he beat Aljo, he couldn't. Volk would beat prime Cejudo, this version he'd straight up murder.

As far as I know, he retired after the UFC denied that fight against Volk.

At that moment of the double title, he deserved it, but not anymore.

Volk might be the worst match up 125-145 for CCC, which shouldn't come as a surprise considering he's the p4p #1 fighter in the world.

The only thing Henry is better at within MMA is actually being a the smaller guy vs Volk for a change.
CCC had success by being big at 125 and his wrestler threat in a striker heavy division with 135 at that time.
CCC has never had a great controlling top game and has only scored finishes via stoppages that were borderline early each time.He isn't big enough, strong enough or able to hit hard enough to make Volk do anything but walk him down and finish him by whatever he chooses. There is a reason Volk has fought as high as WW successfully and CCC came in at 125 to start hs career.
Volk is about as poor a match up for CCC as you could have in MMA. A strong, technical striker with excellent low kicks, who won't be held down or settle on the bottom position.

Cejudo didn't start at 125 he fought a bunch at 135 then attempted 125 where he missed weight in both attempts iirc before going back up then finally successfully going to 125. Not sure why people have to make shit up for their point which was already clear enough.

To be honest if Yair had even 10% of takedown defense he could have won the fight. His standup was better than Volk.

There are not too many who can beat Yair without wrestling him. Actually so far it has not happened. Volk maybe closest so far.

Props to Cejudo for being the first to crack Moraes chin but are we forgetting how that first round went? He did not establish himself as a dominant force at bantamweight, let alone deserving another title shot a second weight class up. Hell, if you think about it he didnt even establish dominance at flyweight. He did the Conor move where you get the title and immediately bounce for a double champ opportunity. It's impressive but whats more impressive is defending a title against all comers. The double champ thing is a shortcut to greatness.
