Opinion Hegseth to U.S. generals: "Prepare for war."

No it's still not an oath to the president. It's an oath of obedience to the President's orders whoever they may be, not specifically to the president as a person.

When you swear an oath of obedience to the president, you are swearing an oath to the president lol.

Thats like saying someone swore an oath to the bible and not god lol

Im not comparing him to hod btw, there are a limited number of examples applicable here

It doesn't say that in the text. It's an oath of obedience to the president's orders, not the president.

It's not in the text that you are swearing loyalty to the President, it clearly states you are swearing obedience to the President's orders.

What’s the definition of an order?
You’re playing semantics against yourself and losing.

No I'm not, there is no loyalty oath to the president in the military service oath. There is an oath of obedience to the president's lawful orders.

It's not even a debate.

You’re trying to cherry pick clearly written text lol

You can do that with anything in the oath if you want to. So what are you swearing an oath to lol?

So like… If a cop pulls you over for speeding, and tells you to stop or he’ll take you to jail. At that point, who are you obeying?

I'm not cherry picking anything from the text, it's like two sentences. I'm honestly interpreting the text as it is written, while you are dishonestly (or ignorantly) misinterpreting the text to a failed attempt to win an argument that doesn't even matter.

The military service oath is an oath to defend the constitution and obey lawful orders from your superiors all the way up to and including the President.

It specifically states the president after the constitution. Highest in the chain of command. Once again, you wouldnt understand.

You’re swearing an oath to the president by swearing to obey his orders, he delegates them. You’re fucking retarded

There is nothing in the text that says you are swearing an oath to the president.

Just because the word president is in the text doesn't mean the oath is to the president.

Now you're the one that is cherry picking.

Whats the definition of obey lol

Whats the definition of obey?

I see you edited

Ok, so comply with whom?

Compliance is not a synonym of loyalty either. I've already stated it repeatedly.

It's an oath of obedience to their superior's lawful orders up to and including the president, not just the president and not specifically to the president.

Who is at the top of the chain? What direction are orders handed down? Oops. Already answered for you
