Opinion Hegseth to U.S. generals: "Prepare for war."

In 2003, I was grunt, trained in North Carolina (nothing like the Middle East). Versed in any language? I maybe learned 6 words in Arabic lol.

2006 was different. We trained in the California desert, more situation specific/realistic training, based on what we earned from 4 years of combat in the Middle East.

Those 6 words is targeted training.
But in all honesty they really dropped the ball with that whole operation. You guys out there in the desert riding in AAV’s. They let you guys down big time in that regard. My brother was a Marine, he got hit in Anbar in ‘05. All shit talking aside, thank you for your service 🫡

It’s now about wannabe English tutors interjecting themselves into discussions and completely forgetting what the fuck their initial argument was

It was one of the funniest arguments on grammar that didn't matter at all I've seen. Perhaps a troll job?

Anyways, you are right, the rank and file love the President, or the recruitment numbers would not be improving so greatly.

Look, fuckjob, I already posted how my use of ‘proper’ was grammatically correct. You plugged some convoluted question strategically phrased to steer it to get the answer you wanted.

Besides, the entire bulk of your comment was centered around the exclusion of a second comma, therefore-it’s a punctuation issue 😆

You losers are grasping at straws because you are unable to successfully refute anything that I have said. You know what’s happening here lol

lol okay

I don't have a position on your take, I just jumped to the end and saw you taking a victory lap on a clearly incorrect statement. I didn't bank on you being too stupid to self-realize, but it's all good because I can stop derailing the thread since I'm confident future readers will look at you being corrected by multiple people + chatgpt and realize what a fucking dumbshit you are.

I dont know man. It initially started with some low hanging fruit by a poster ive grown to like. It evolved from there.

I dont even have a problem with people who hate Trump. It’s easy to do. But fuck, if you’re going to participate in discussions, at least do it with conviction. 95% of these posters dont even know what they’re arguing for-only that they’re supposed to. Worst types of posters. Fucking lazy.

My punctuation may have been incorrect, but that wasnt even what the discussion was about. Nice attempt to save face while you’re limping out of here. Dont let the door hit you on the way out, pussy.

In my experience, the military has become significantly more political, especially at the higher levels. The selection process for general officers now heavily involves political alliances. It's important to remember that the military's history has been intertwined with politics and politicians for a long time. While this isn't new, it has worsened since around 2009.

Since Trump retook office, some rules of engagement have changed, and those changes are more logical, rational, and better than the ones issued by the previous administration.

For example, if an adversary fires a rocket at you, then drops it and runs away, you can't kill him because he's unarmed. That makes sense, right? This was something the Biden administration imposed on us.

Meanwhile, liberals are acting as if this situation were akin to the night of the long knives. If some generals are being fired or have been fired, so what? They will receive their pensions, write their books, and likely earn $500,000 or more in defense contracting afterwards. It's not worth feeling too sorry for them.

The show of having all generals stand before the man is unprecedented, a somber audience would make sense. They're the generals not the real soldiers. Again remember how political the military is now? The generals are protecting their image at all times, clapping or celebrating out of turn is a bad look… but it's also just not the crowd that's going to be emotional about anything. Trump a kind of missed the mark on that one.
You make it sound like Obama tried to politicize the AF and Trump is just making things right. This fails to consider that from day 1 in office Trump has been trying to secure personal loyalty for himself from those in positions of power around him over the Constitution or the Nation and dismissing those that refused.

His entire Cabinet is basically made up of his personal employees. You can see the abuse of power in the charges filed against Comey and the sweetheart deal Jizzlaine got where it's his own personal lawyers tasked with making sure his interests are considered over the Rule of Law.

I'd prefer someone who is physically fit and a good tactician/decision maker.

Plus, someone who is slightly out of shape can make the decision to get fit and do it quickly.
Easier said then done at 50+ with a fuck ton of injuries.

Standards are standards and need to be met but there still needs to be nuance. The more black and white you try to make things, the more they fall apart in practice.

At the senior command level you need to be within standards but the priority is always on your ability to do your job. I dont expect my MSgt to keep up with me during pt. I expect him to keep our section in order

Loyalty is required because he is the commander in chief. After 8 years of baseless accusations, political persecution, and even an assassination attempt-that’s not all that irrational 😆

I think the fitness thing kind of goes against the "would you want your kids to serve in this unit" rhetoric tbh. If it comes down to strategy I'd rather my kid served under a slightly out of shape person who's a good military tactician and decision maker under stress than someone who's jacked but not as good tactically.
Unless were talking about some sloppy dude that can't tie his own laces because his stomach gets in the way I think conditioning is a moot point considering their job function. To some extent you want them to have discipline and set a good example but just look at how fat Trump is himself and the example he sets riling up half the country against the other. I know Trump is all about appearance but let's hope brilliant minds aren't dismissed because they don't look the part of a Hollywood General and especially because they don't share the same ideology.

This just is not true.

You are an insufferable dingbat.

“I, [name], do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”

Told you that you wouldnt understand.

Clearly you do not understand even what you've copy pasted.

The oath of loyalty is to the constitution. The oath of obedience is to the office, not the President as a person, and is also an oath to disobey unlawful orders that conflict with their oath to the defend the constitution.

It is clearly written in plain text lmfao

What direct orders has he given that were deemed unlawful? I’ll wait.

Some law is written vaguely to be open to interpretation, this is blatantly very cut and dry. There is no room for interpretation here
