Trejo has about as much of a chance of getting up off the floor, and making a masterpiece, as Mann does in current year.

The 1995 classic is still available, you know.

Michael Mann still seems like he has ability. My main worry would be the whole multi-time period thing. Using different actors for different ages is tricky, and using VFX to de-age even trickier.
