Crime Headlining Crime Megathread Vol 4.

alright im done going off on that matter. im off to tape the ten commandments on the side of my car door. that way i can save the second off my life from having to press a button on my keyfob and i can put whatever i want in there in plain view and not have to worry about ever being a victim of crime. the next potential thief will simply just read the sign and suddenly decide to turn their lives around.

and if anything happens, how dare anybody critcize me a little for not using a little bit of common sense. stay classy sherdog.

oh yeah how about people shouldnt steal? hurrrrrrrrrrrr

i dont know what perfect world youre living in bucko, but over here on planet earth we create locks and keys for a reason.

dont lock your car doors people. you heard it here first. because everybody in the world has such good morals, and knows better than to steal. make sure to roll a window down too and leave a 20 dollar bill on the dash while you leave your car parked at a gas station for an hour. its an honest world we're liviing in. everybody knows better than to steal. their momma taught them that when they were little.
That’s an obnoxious take and it’s funny how you went out of your way to defend kids stealing cars

let me be clear. i dont give a fuck how old the thief is. they are still a thief and their age doesnt excuse their actions.

with that being said, this incident could have easilly been prevented if the owner of the vehicle would have used some common sense. if she didnt want people OF ANY AGE getting into her car, she could have taken the 2 seconds out of her life to press the button on her fob to lock her doors. or if its a newer model, just stick her finger on the door handle censor to lock it if for some reason she's feeling too lazy to press a button on her fob.

and also, if you have a car with a push start ignition, you absolutely never ever ever for any reason leave your car unlocked when you are in a location where the keyfob is within wireless range of your vehicle. and even if youre only going inside some place for a couple minutes, thats not an excuse to be incompetant and make it easier for thieves. it would take mere seconds for somebody to get in there and make off with your car. and nobody around would be all the wiser, because all they would have seen was somebody step into a car, start it up, and drive away. if she couldnt take the time to press the button on her fob to lock the doors, she obviously wouldnt have set the alarm either, even though the alarm probably wouldnt have even triggered in this type of situation.

if anything she should be glad it was a bunch of dipshit kids who took the car rather than your every day criminal. chances are she never would have got her car back. at least not in the same condition it was in before it was stolen.

but hey, pressing locks and buttons is too much of a hassle for some. she could always do what i did to deter criminals and thieves, and tape the ten commandments to her door window. thats what i did an hour ago and now i no longer have to worry about criminals of any age stealing my shit. would-be thieves will simply just read whats on my door, and then they will learn in the name of the lord that stealing is wrong and they will suddenly decide against taking that shiny new laptop thats sitting on my passenger seat

its a win-win situation for both of us! the thieves will find jesus and turn their lives around, and nobody will ever steal my shit. now its time for me to cut out all my door locks. gotta shed some weight on the car. gas aint getting any cheaper!

Good job on showing just how crazy you are. Glad it went from “uh they stopped a crime with a crime “ to “I’m putting the Ten Commandments on muh car”. Dude you are a crazy person and can’t debate at all without going full on crazy ex girlfriend

well shit shertard. i guess youre right. people shouldnt have to use common sense to help protect their property and deter criminals, because stealing is wrong and everybody should know better. and shame on people who decide to forego common sense just to make it easier for criminals.

i'm leaving the 10 commandments up on my door and throwing a playstation in there. maybe i'll even $20 bill on the dash just for good measures. i'm sure nothing would happen because "people should know better and it should be expected that they won't steal anything, let alone a car?" right?

i'll let you know just how that goes for me after my car gets cleaned out and i'm crying on facebook about it after i become a victim of a crime that i could have easilly prevented with my own common sense.

Hahaha you’re an unhinged loon. Congratulations cat lady

but apparently the concept of locking your car doors is just crazy talk to elkaro and that other proud american maga muppet who believe in election fraud fairy tales and wackadoodle conspiracy theories. perhaps they all live in rural areas with tiny populations where everybody knows each other and are maybe even all related?

i dont know about the rest of you guys, but i live in the heart of a city where crime actually exists, and is rather plentiful actually. and if you dont lock your car doors, even when theres nothing of any value in there to steal, then youre a fucking idiot and youre not going to get any sympathy from anybody here. thats just how it goes. cops here wont even bother showing up to investigate unless your car itself was stolen. if you lost property from inside it, or if someone steals your bike, you phone it in and talk to them on the phone. if you dont have serial numbers, then tough shit. thats as far as your case will ever go. you cant just leave your shit around all carelesly and expect to ever see it again after you call the police.

vehicle theft is fairly common here too, but theft of property from inside the vehicle occurs here so often, especially to tourists who just leave their cars parked around at our beaches with their doors unlocked and even their windows open, and it just wastes the police time because theres almost no way to ever catch the people who have been doing it and then prove that they did it. almost nobody gets caught for it, and when they do the judge just lets them back out anyways, but almost all of these crimes could have been avoided if these people would have just locked their doors. even if they didnt have any valueables in their car. a little common sense can save alot of grief

but apparently the concept of locking your doors to prevent theft is just completely batshit insane to a couple oddballs here. you shouldnt ever have to worry about locking your doors because "people should know better than to steal". thank you for enlightening me there elkaro. i'll make sure to plaster the ten commandments on my door panel, so all of those would-be thieves will take jesus into their lives instead of whatever valueables i decide to leave in my unlocked car with the window open.

Why do people allow themselves to get trolled?

im wasting my time i know. next time ill just try to find where the ignore button is i guess. clearly its pointless to waste my time with unrationable people you just cant reason with and solely exist on a karate forum to try to provoke people into pointless arguments with.

i guess the best way to deal with a troll is to simply just ignore them and not give them the time of day and show them just how little they affect your life. theyll move on to the next guy to provoke with their same antics and eventually disappear when nobody else cares to play into their game

sorry guys i took the bait and went off a little there. it wont happen again.

yeah i went off there. my bad. hat was i saying? the guys right. you cant do a liittle bit of victim blaming due to their laziness. somebody needs to tell these thieves that stealing is bad mmkay and that will solve everything.

with that being said, feel free to leave your truck unlocked in a nice urban area, with a laptop on the dash and a nice mountain bike hanging off the back. maybe even your dead mothers ashes too because who the fuck would ever steal that? surely youll have nothing to worry about because that thief knows that stealing is wrong and that will totally prevent them. their moms told them that stealing is wrong. the bible told them not to steal. the police told them not to steal. the 4th time they got caught for the same crime the judges and court system told them not to steal, but aww hell maybe the 5th times the charm and maybe when they get let back out that revolving door, theyre not going to steal shit anymore because somebody told them that stealing is wrong

with logic like that i dont even know why locks and keys are invented. but dont you dare try to shame the victim for not taking the extra second out of their lives to use them. the shertards sure dont like it when other users suggest to use some fucking common sense! the criminal just needs somebody to tell them that stealing is wrong and then property theft will never be an issue in the world again, because obviously a thief gives two shits about your feelings and values.

Heads up dude. No one read this either.

You're one of them "girls shouldn't wear short skirts if they don't want to be raped" guys, ain't ya?

Don't know why people are being so hard on the guy, it's pretty obvious what his point is. It's not that thieves should be excused, but rather that you should obey your common sense in certain neighbourhoods.

If you live in a high-crime area, then yeah, you need to be careful. That's why people have guns, surveillance cameras, locks in their doors, etc. Women shouldn't be walking around at night alone, people shouldn't leave their stuff hanging around, and so forth.

It is common sense. It is not ideal, but it is pragmatic.

Cops can't really do anything about petty crime like pick-pocketing, stealing from cars, etc, especially if such things happen frequently. You have to take certain precautions yourself. At the end of the day, when the community fails, it's the individual who is ultimately responsible for protecting himself and his belongings.

You must consider the source in these matters.

Well, I just try to weigh the arguments on their own merits, and I think this passes the test.

Of course, if we are talking about long-term society building then actions such as locking your doors, having guns and cameras, etc. are just a band-aid on a gaping wound. But they are the bare minimum actions that an individual can take when they operate in a society that's burdened with crime. If they are not doing those things, then well, just like with the pandemic, if people aren't even putting forth the bare minimum effort to prevent new cases from occurring, then the society will be over-loaded with a mass spread of infections, or in this case, crime.

A person can save the cops a lot of work by not being an air-headed buffoon who walks around with their wallet hanging from their pocket, and leaves their car doors open. Make it as tough as possible for the criminals to acquire their loot, and many will abandon the practise, as it's no longer the "low-hanging fruit" that they desire.

In the long-term though, to address the root causes of crime, these individual measures won't be having a significant impact. But they're the foundation upon which subsequent efforts can be built.

You know what i do when i walk by an unlocked car with a phone and wallet in it? I leave it the fuck alone. I do the same with houses too.

and so would i and most honest people. if only most of the people in my city were like that we wouldnt have to make sure to lock our shit up, and there wouldnt be anywhere near as much crime. i guess its better than living in a warzone though so hell i guess i cant complain.

finally somebody who gets me. when you live around crime you have to be vigilant about it

forgive me for finding a different way to suggest that maybe if you dont want other people getting into your car, it wouldnt hurt to lock the doors. not everybody out there is an honest person. when you have to live around so many shitheads you have to watch out for their shit. thats basically all i was trying to say
