Television HBO should have used GOT to become the historical series / fantasy series channel primarily

I'm guessing part of the issue with Game of Thrones is that whilst it was popular right from the start it was not THAT popular, its a rare show were the viewing figures increased for every season until it ended so you were not dealing with an absolute monster it became until closer to the end.

You are thinking of Jim Rome
You never watched HBOs Rome.

When Jim Rome was still working in ESPN, they called his TV series Rome is Burning.

That name lasted a long time. Afterwards, his ESPN TV series was called Jim Rome is Burning.

How closer to the end?

Early GOT was a small scale, start something on a small scale and have the story potentially wrapping up early if necessary.

I still have to watch HBO's Pilot Episode of GOT. Supposedly, it's extremely different compared to what actually released.

9 mil is a pretty damn great number, also they are are more hardcore fans.

Will Martin ever finish The Winds of Winter? Even if The Winds of Winter releases, will he ever finish writing A Dream of Spring?

He won't. If he passes all the notes to a competent writer I'd still be fine though, his writing style is not really perfect either way. But at this point my man has a treasure of plots in his sick fat head, don't know if I'd trust anyone else to handle that.

Not perhaps "shit we need more of this kind of thing" numbers to the extent 20+ million is though.
What else was doing those numbers back in those days?

Sets can be repurposed in a smart way even ff gloss is HBOs thing.

Was GoT somehow historical?

GOT is a fantasy, through and through. However, I'm rather certain that Martin is more than adept at history and historical documents. In my opinion, he's a sharp historian.

Lots of chapters in A Song of Ice and Fire and GOT were inspired by actual events that occurred in real life. For example, GOT has House Stark (and The Stark Military) and House Lannister (and The Lannister Military).

GOT's Stark Family is obviously based on York Family. They actually existed in real-life England. I wouldn't be surprised if a few of them are still breathing nowadays.

GOT's Lannister Family is obviously based on Lancaster Family. They actually existed in real-life England. I wouldn't be surprised if a few of them are still breathing nowadays.

However, I would love to remind everyone in this thread that Martin (the creator of GOT and A Song of Ice and Fire) himself is from New Jersey. He's not from England or any other nation in Europe. In an episode of Real Time with Bill Maher, Maher was flabbergasted that New Jersey and other places in United States of America were some of the main sources of inspiration when Martin created Westeros and every other mythological place in his novels.

AI will finish the books eventually

Is that the result that you would actually want? Instead of AI, I would choose an actual author.

If I'm forced to watch Martin become a cadaver, I would prefer that someone like Brandon Sanderson finishes The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring.

AI will eventually be able to replicate any authors style, so you could have both. You could get Dickens to end the books

House of the Dragon has gotten taken over by woke LGBTQ writers.
