What say you?

Has Merab surpassed Khabib in legacy?

Also…..

It’s fake fyi, AI makes some good shit.

Well, lets discuss this with scientific facts.

Khabib wrestles bears. Merab beats gorilla's off.

After extensive research on the You tube. I found undeniable evidence from some random stupid show. That bears smash gorilla's.

So probably not. Unless the gorilla is on roids.

Khabib retiring undefeated and being so iconic matters. Merabs wins are of a much higher quality though, undoubtedly. Cejudo, Omalley, Umar, Aljo, Yan....Yeah it's a body of work far beyond Khabibs and guys like Cejudo, Umar, Aljo and even Yan are pretty elite into Merabs strengths, something Khabib only really faced vs Tibau....which went horribly for him.

There was never a fighter as dominant as Khabib, not even Ilia

Ilia got dropped, lost many rounds... Merab is like that retarded kid that has superhuman strength, but he also loses rounds, has lost before

Its not just about number of title defenses, but also about overall potential. You know damn well Khabib would ragdoll Charles and Tony if he stayed

We all have our own criteria. # of Title defenses, quality of opponents (subjective), overrall # of wins (including run up to title), whether or not they failed a PED test, etc.

How they would fare in hypothetical matches is just speculation. This is the same line of reasoning that leads some people to call Cain a HW GOAT.

Merab could go on to defend 3x, then move up and capture FW gold, and chinstrap lovers would still not acknowledge him over Khabib because he has losses on his record. Even if he was undefeated, they’d move the goal post again and focus on the fact that he lost rounds here and there, or my favorite; he bled or had a scratch after the fight 😂

Legacy? No. Khabibi changed the game more. Nobody is like "let me copy Merab's incredible cardio". Merab hasn't made a stamp on the world like Khabib yet.

Honestly Merab's wins are against higher quality opposition and a mixture of skills. Less dominant (Khabib had more finishes and never looked in trouble, almost never appeared to lose a round or even a minute of a fight), but tougher competition. Umar, Yan and Cejudo are tougher opposition than any of Khabib's wins I think - all very good wrestlers or at least antiwrestlers, all very good strikers. Maybe RDA and Poirier are up there.

khabib lost rounds to coke head conor after a 2 year hiatus, he also lost a round to justin gaethje. Stop this he doesn't lose rounds shit

Need to see another finish or two from Merab before I say yes. Kudos on his last sub of Sean O'Malley though.

Merab is easily greater than Edie Munster Khabib. Better wins, longevity, beat top opponents multiple times. Be honest, the only reason anyone still mentions Khabib is because he cowardly quit and ran away. It was not like he was injured or old and had to retire. He was scared to fight. I know I know, he had an excuse, his Mommy say he no more fight, so he no more fight. "Mommy, mommy, the boys in the UFC want to fight me, tell them you say no Mommy, tell them you say no Mommy, tell them no means no ".

Khabib quit early, but he has no losses on his records and no matter who you put him up against he could just take them down and no one could stop it. No matter what Merab does he never had that aura where everyone knew what was coming and couldn't do anything about it.

Merab sort of exploits the points system where defending gets you nothing, but attempting gets you points for control. His cardio is legendary though, maybe you could make an argument there. But he's lost fights and had close ones like with Aldo. Where with Khabib you could only bring up Tibau, which isn't the worst close fight.

We don't know that....the fact that those guys would beat everyone Khabib beat is troublesome in itself. There is also Islam who's prime would have overlaped with Khabib's eventually, we know Islam is better than everyone Khabib fought also. Khabib only fought like 4 good guys, and most of them aren't all timers or anything like that.

Khabib did not fight nearly as stiff competition as other goat candidates nor did he fight for a long time. So I am not sure if him not struggling as much means that he is better.

Just saying what if isn't enough to be the goat. Most people who say Khabib is a goat candidate happen to also be fans of him, that's not a coincidence.

Pretty much this. Merab was 0-16 td’s vs Aldo, just holds everyone and stalls. Umar beat him the first 2 rounds with a broken hand and just lost due to bad cardio,bc skill wise it showed they’re not on the same level. Merab got obliterated and knocked down like 6 times against Marlon Moraes who is like on a 10 fight losing streak. He gets hurt, cant do any damage, Khabib is a total different animal. Looked unbeatable and dominated everyone he faced.

Everyone thought Umar would easily beat Merab bc Merab looks terrible everywhere, just has insane hyper epo cardio…

Good take. RDA lost to every good wrestler he faced Tibau, Guida, Colby, Usman, Chiesa, Gamrot...it was a flaw in his game that existed before and after Khabib, so I wouldn't put him in that category like Cejudo, Umar and Yan who showed great defensive wrestling vs competent guys...unlike RDA. Poirier too was getting tossed around at 145 by Cub Swanson and Korean Zombie at 145 and at 155 he went on that initial run not facing any takedown artists but then got wrestled by Hooker which was a terrible look.

I dont think Khabib is unstoppable like you do. He hit a wall vs Tibau, he got cracked vs Poirier, he was getting busted up vs Gaethje and I find the era he fought in kinda poor and especially lacking guys who could handle the grappling he had and the pressure. I think guys like Arman, Islam, Topuria and even Charles are more dangerous fights than any Khabib ever had and he definitely had some issues and moments vs lesser guys, even got taken down by Tibau, Bagov and Trujillo the only decent wrestlers he ever faced. He also really relied on grinding guys with nonstop pressure but he didnt look that impressive vs a non top 20 caliber Al I'Aquinta who was on short notice...and Al was significantly smaller and not world class but actually had cardio and competent grappling....so I dont think its a coincidence. Its similar with Islam, I dont think people understand how bad UFC divisions can be but Islam was getting taken down by Egoyan in the regionals...because Egoyan was a Sambo Champ and wrestled...these guys aren't unstoppable, they just come to the UFC and fight a bunch of grappling virgins because Dana and friends like to protect the fanbase and not sign competent guys or reward certain styles.

Khabib is still greater than Merab, and he is a legend who made a huge impact on this sport. Merabs career isnt over though, but hes running out of great challengers to ever catch up to Khabibs legendary status and Merab is already aging out of his prime. Patchy Mix needed to dominate Bautista and become a new great challenger. Sandhagen is a good win but adds nothing as a guy who already lost to Umar and Yan. Not Merabs fault but the reality nonetheless.

Why the fuck did I put Aljo in there, they didnt fight. Eh, Merabs resume is better but not by as much as I thought. Khabib is a little Salvador Sanchez in terms of his MMA career.
