Has Jiri become underrated?

He definitely could benefit from getting a team to convince him to restrain his style
nooooooooooooooooooooo

never

Thats the way he fights. He cant fight like a normal person. He's not a normal person.

He got to be champion and got like 17 finishes in a row like this.

wether people like it or not thats how he fights.

Cool, then his downfall comes sooner. He's getting older and has been flattened twice In the last 3; the last one brutally.

yep

Fans: he should retire.
After he knocks out Hill with a flying double roundhouse kick they will change their minds.

so what

live by the sword die by the sword

War Jiri, total support.

He's rated appropriately. He's the LHW Tony Ferguson. Very dangerous because of how awkward he is but also can get KOed at any second because of how open he is when he throws his unconventional strikes

Weird to be such a fan of a guy you don't care gets murdered. Oh well.
I care about him winning but he should try to do it his way. You can't just try to all of a sudden be a normal boring assed fighter after 36 fights.

He gotta stick to his own way, and do what he can with it.

Theres a difference between being boring and jiri trying to be more measured. Or at least not blocking every punch with his face

He can make adjustments. But there's only so much you can change this far in.

In the second Poatan fight he figured out how to stop him rushing and jiri could not adjust to not being able to rush and wound up staying still too long thinking in the danger zone of someone hitting as hard and as fast as Poatan.

Not something anyone else can easily replicate.

Jiri certainly can at least try to come up w something to counter what Poatan did, which he got caught unawares for.

But I agree it shouldn't be in his next fight after hill.

But anyone and everyone does hit Jiri hard. 39% significant striking defense is absurdly bad, and it doesn't get much better by excluding the Poatan fights. Jiri's absorbed a ridiculous amount of damage in his four UFC wins.

Poatan's big adjustments were keeping his hands up, being patient, and focusing on placement over power. Jiri was brutally KOed by a naked front-leg roundhouse with less setup than your bottom-of-the-barrel pornhub video, and that's mostly about Jiri's defense or complete lack thereof - if your hands are up and you're getting any kind of a read at all not even Poatan is doing that to you - and Poatan employing fight IQ in response, not Poatan's considerable striking skills.

Yes but to set up the blows he landed he learned how to cut off Jiri's rush which he couldn't do in the first fight. That was the key to victory

On what is TS basing he is underrated? Or at least, what gives you the impression he might be?

Jiri is more of a tactical mess than a technical one. he is so unorthodox he can beat anyone if his game-plan had a bit more conviction or better execution but he suffers from concentration lapses in match-ups which result in some crucial points of damage and in the case against Poatan, a KO since you can't afford to do so. 32 is young for LHW so his next match against Jamal will tell us if he has evolved.

To answer your question yes, if you look at any comment section on social media or ask anyone about him the general consensus would be he sucks and is sloppy and should retire

However you could literally make the argument that not only does Jiri beat everyone else at LHW other than Pereira but that he arguably beats everyone at HW other than Jones and maybe Aspinall or Gane which are 50/50 fights

The fight vs Hill will tell us everything though

Fergerson really though was mostly a grappler who pressured people during his peak.

Jiri takes punishment but he's giving back even more right from the start against everyone but Alex, I feel like a fight like Reyes part of the story of that is actually that Reyes took a supprising amount of punishment without going down, Jiri landed a hell of a lot on him in the first round and then needed to land the death elbow to actually finish.

Hes a very dangerous fighter for the cash cows because he takes the most chances of any other fighter other just like Guida. His style can pull an upset at anytime. UFC probably doesnt want that.

Jiri's biggest enemy is his ego / pride. He accepted first fight vs Pereira meanwhile he had brutal infection in one of his limbs, and reportedly wasnt able even prepare himself. - Of course he said that he is in best form and etc of his life and many including me trusted him... After fight he said that he wouldnt accept fight injured again. And what happened? Jiri happened get same injury before rematch - Thats why he was probably talking about "black magic".

Its highly unlikely we will see 3rd fight unless Poatan loses belt and Jiri gets it...but if so i hope both fighters will be healthy.
