Some wild takes. Imagine judging every fighter by their first loss. I'm more intrested in how he responds to the loss and grows his game.
Yeah I'm not seeing people talk about that. Terrible choice. He's just green still, Bo made a bad decision to go for a guillotine at one point and lost position. Also he's much too small to overcome the legit guys.
I think you're on point with all of it. I also don't understand how Bo can struggle to make 185lbs. Wtf is he doing between fights? Did you see the size of RDR in there? Lol smhYeah I'm not seeing people talk about that. Terrible choice.
I really don't like Nickal, but I can't trash him too hard for "giving up." He took multiple hard knees right to the belly and solar plexis. That shit hurts.
That said, I think there are some other fighters that would have fought through it.

That's how I see it going as well unfortunately, one more loss like that and he's out. I wonder if he would've been better off going into pure grappling and getting fame and money that way, a la Gordon Ryan and Musumeci....but maybe I'm wrong but it seems like ADCC has declined in prominence and the money and fame is in pure BJJ now? If ADCC was still big he might have had a real shit to become top tier like Jeff Monson back in the day.
He had a lot of notoriety and could've sold grappling instructionals on meshing wrestling with BJJ or something, exploiting the fact that BJJers tend to have poor takedowns. If anything though this UFC run was bad exposure for that, because it showed that his wrestling was ineffective in MMA. Think about it, if he didn't fight, we would all still be going on the gym stories where they talked about him being an invincible grappler, and he got a lot of credit just for surviving against Gordon Ryan a few years back.
Bo should've let me be his manager, I would've had him switch to this path maybe after the Pickett fight, and definitively after Brundage.

If he went pure grappling and tried for fame that way he'd have to do it in BJJ. It's as you alluded to: what wrestlers are there that are making huge money doing wrestling shows? And if there was big money in just wrestling, better guys would be doing it and beating him anyway.
And he wouldn't go far in BJJ against good guys. His BJJ hasn't even looked great while he's been doing it with MMA. Jumping for bad gillys against RDR and taking minutes to realize his arms in the wrong place while trying to set up an arm triangle on a can. He just wouldn't ever be a superstar there.
Bro, if he never fought, most UFC fans would probably never have heard of him lol. The dude was just a wreslter, and not even one that won the olympics or anything.
Guy had his will broken from having to play guard for 2 minutes and taking a total of zero significant ground strikesPeople are right about this though. It wasn't just that he was getting hurt. Even at the end of the first he was going back to his corner looking completely dejected. And it's not like he'd gotten flogged that round either. He just lost position, wound up on bottom, and had to waste a bit of energy there. He'd only taken a few hard shots on the feet.
If that's breaking his will so much then he wasn't anywhere near ready for this level of fighting. And he might never be. Not everyone has it.
It feels like a lot of these wrestlers who are so used to dominating at wrestling can't handle it when things go remotely wrong in an MMA fight. They're so used to being the hammer that once they become the nail they break mentally before they've even got hammered in.

It looked bad for Bo but I don’t think it’s really that bad.
RDR could be that MW champ. The size difference was massive.
Bo gassing like that is worrisome, he was gassed after the 1st round.
what a dumb move to go for that guillotine, it changed the fight.
Now he knows what he has to do to get to the next level, he’s got the pedigree but the mentality looks to be lacking. Drop him down a peg and let him start a run again.
It’s just the optics of the loss. Jumping for a guillotine like that is something you do as a last ditch effort. It reminds me of when Weidman jumped to take Luke Rockhold’s back to try for an RNC. Rockhold said that moment let him know he was going to win the fight - because “aren’t you supposed to be a wrestler?”Yeah I'm not seeing people talk about that. Terrible choice.

Well that's why I said it would have to be ADCC or something, pure BJJ wouldn't work out.
That's Sherdoger's forte.Imagine judging every fighter by their first loss.
Possibly, however Rockhold is also mentally retarded.Rockhold said that moment let him know he was going to win the fight
Hey, a lot of fighters get judged extremely harsh on their wins. Some wild takes. Imagine judging every fighter by their first loss. I'm more intrested in how he responds to the loss and grows his game.
I think it's pretty much agreed that Weidman in the Rockhold fight is some of the worst fight IQ ever shown in a bout for a belt, then again I guess it was more the shit wheel kick that did him in wasn't it.Possibly, however Rockhold is also mentally retarded.

Agreed, however I can never pass on a opportunity to shit on Rockhold whenever I can, even if I'm wrong.I think it's pretty much agreed that Weidman in the Rockhold fight is some of the worst fight IQ ever shown in a bout for a belt, then again I guess it was more the shit wheel kick that did him in wasn't it.
