Has Ankalaev ever been dropped or rocked or battled through serious adversity?

All that comes to mind is him limping from
Leg kicks

But can’t remember him ever being rocked …. That’s why I find myself betting him … but hoping Alex KOs him!

I would rather lose my money and Alex wins … but I have to bet Ankalaev at plus money here unfortunatly

If anyone can post any gifs or can recall Ankalaev being rocked - plz share!

No, and quite frankly I'm not even sure this fight will be competitive. It's Silva vs Weidman all over again, the aging striker vs the well rounded up and comer in his prime. Ank is very difficult to land a big shot on, and with Poatan being terrified of the takedown, it will make Ank that much harder to hit, just like Silva couldn't land anything on Weidman. Ank will drop Pereira harder than Rountree did, except he won't relent. It's going to suck seeing Pereira dominated like that as I'm a big fan, but I fear that's what we're in for tomorrow.

Exactly. People never talk about how defensively Ankalaev is sound. He has crazy defense and is very hard to hit.

yeah, Thiago Santos dropped him
Ank still won
dont sleep on Pereira, he can sleep anyone in his weight class. i think he'll finish Ank in the later rounds.
but i wouldnt be surprised if Ank won.

You're right, the man who KO'd Jan also did drop Ank. Ank didn't fold, he's absolutely unstoppable.

Ank is a more well rounded fighter than Alex, but I dont think he's as fleshed out as Weidman was. Weidman could wrestle all day if he wanted. Ank has an advantage on the ground but it isnt really his go-to.

I hear a lot of late finish predictions

Frankly I don’t think it makes it past 2.5

They both hate each other … I see a finish in the first 2 rounds

Ank ko under 2.5 +600 is the value bet for me

But I’d be soooo fkn happy to lose money and see Alex win though!

I'm rewatching the Santos fight right now, it's more like Ankalaev lost balance rather than it was a knockdown. Other than that, Ankalaev has never been in a serious trouble. In fact, ever - even in amateur MMA (in his own words). I've also watched a breakdown of Pereira - Ankalaev fight the other day with Anthony Smith, he said Ankalaev's defence is 'magical'.

I think defeating Ankalaev will be a tall order for Pereira. Especially that he's about to hit 38.

Yup I agree - I got ank to finish finally - under 2.5

Can’t see this lasting long either way

Fkn love Alex and his warrior spirit of being such an active fighter at such an older age … but just can’t bet him here

Hope Alex does it again though!

He’s been rocked multiple times and had his legs absolutely destroyed by Jan. Not ideal going against the hardest puncher and kicker in the division.
I rewatched the Jan fight today. I forgot how hurt he was by those leg kicks.
Ank would have lost a 3 rounder and Jan seemed under prepared.

Impressive by Ank turn it around those last 2 rounds, but his work on the ground was pretty poor. Even with a full Dagestani handcuff he wouldn't let go with any big shots to risk a finish.

I definitely think we see some wrestling with Alex finishing him at some point later.

Poatan takes it within 3...minutes.

The entire reason why people wanted Weidman/Silva was because he was Chael with sub defence and standing power. That's why Silva himself ducked him for a year. It was a horrific matchup.

Don't embarass yourself mate Jesus Christ.

People love the narrative that Ank "maybe could" shoot from 7ft out even though that's how he doesnt actually fight.

Pereira KO within 3.

Owl has a similar toolset like Aliskerov. And he also drops his lead hand when he kicks, and has a habit to keep his hands low.
It might be that we will see the sambo champion dance samba no pé all over again, like Ikram did against Rob.
