"Hard-Working American" Myth

I can get on board with that but it will depend on what you mean by "true economic hardship". Are we only helping people who are homeless or starving?

I think part of it is

where do we draw the line of who we help?

How much and what all are we gonna make sure people have and to what level?

I think we all have different ideas and when we are not on the same page, it causes disagreements in the process and what else could/should be done.

I think that's a good place to start. 99% of the rest of debate is what represents true hardship that needs addressing.

Some of us are less forgiving than others on that score. A recent example from the War Room being what represents the minimum level of housing someone should expect to afford from their paycheck.

I say renting a room in someone else's house is an acceptable minimum. Others disagree. Is my answer true economic hardship? Not to me so I wouldn't address it but others would.

This is the most pathetic response I have ever seen. CABLE IS NEEDED TO STAY IN CONTACT WITH THE WORLD?

Yea I guess they can't spend .50 cents on a newspaper, or watch the news in the breakroom at work.

I can see you are either trolling or stupid, no further contact will be made with you. If you think like this, I'm surprised you have made it this far in life.

lol. Im trolling and your posting about the poor wearing Jordans and watching Blue Rays.

I was surprised (I guess I shouldn't have been, knowing liberals) at how many people thought everyone should have their own house or apartment?

A 18 or 20 year old person working a mcdonalds should make enough to afford his own house or apartment by himself?? WTF?

I find it funny how you spend the first 17 years living with people and then all of a sudden just because you turn 18 and get a job, some people think you have a human right to live by yourself and we the tax payers, or your job should have to cover it.

yea, it's a pretty common occurrence

Have you ever meet poor/working people, have you ever been into their homes? Have you ever had to give anyone a ride home that lives in a shitty neighborhood?
If you ever did, you will see it is common place for the poor to have that shit.

I like how you are acting amazed by this, like this is your first time ever hearing anyone talk about it. LOL

The poor should be forced to watch VHS tapes dammit!!!

:(:(:(

How about sell the TV and get a job? Heaven forbid the poor contribute to society. At least the Romans used them for entertainment and tiger food.

The poor have jobs. Many have 2 or 3

Your posts crack me up. The stuff you guys always claim bankrupt poor poepl isnt even expensive. A tv? Is this 1950? Tvs are cheap nowadays. So are cell phones. I pay 10$ a month for my cell service.

Where do you live where tvs and cell phones are expensive?

At least the Romans used them for entertainment and tiger food.

And the French peasants used to assrape, decapitate and cannibalize their rich. Perhaps you would like to revisit that era?

A big NO to the rape and cannibalism, but the decapitate? Yes please.

You'd also be amazed at how many poor people don't understand things like exponentiation because they had a shitty education paid for by property tax in a low income community.

And the poor were still poor...

And it's not having the TV so much as it is wasting your time watching it.

And the parents have no blame? Why don't the parents teach their children 5th or 6th grade math?

That's a pretty bold generlization, no?

I love the vast differences between both sides

Libs think the poor work 90 hours a week, make all the right financial decisions, and it's just the mean old companies that are screwing them over

The right thinks all poor don't work, or work as little as possible, waste all their money, and don't think they add enough value to companies to get a raise.

I'm being sarcastic here guys--although there are a few posters who actually think this way:icon_conf

I don't agree. A year or two after I started out in my first real job, the cost of living skyrocketed due to gas and heating oil getting way more expensive (this was the early Bush 2 years). I successfully renegotiated my salary. Obviously, management has the right to decline, but the workers should always have a right to ask for more if they think they're worth more.

I said they can't demand, but I do certainly think they should ask.

I'm poor.

And I got the new Galaxy S5 2 weeks ago. Fully hooked up. I love that phone.
I also have cable, HBO, Xbox 360, 2 laptops, internet access, LA Fitness membership,
MMA membership, a flat screen. Still debating if I should get the PS4 or Xbox One next month.

It shouldn't take a big budget to teach kids what an exponential is.

Much poorer countries manage to do it all the time.

Meanwhile inner cities in places that think like you and throw cash as the crappy schools still end up with failure.

I picture you in a UNICEF commercial all sad faced with GTA playing on your flat screen in the back.
