Movies Halloween Movie Thread?

I'm diggin' the morning horror with my coffee.

We had a Halloween-themed block party yesterday, we all decorated and voted on the spookiest house. I came in second place.

Anyway:

10/1 - It Comes at Night
10/2 - From Season 3 Episodes 1 & 2
10/3 - Tales from the Hood
10/4 - Halloween II (2009)
10/5 - Grotesquerie Season 1 Episodes 3 & 4
10/6 - Child's Play

Not exactly a slasher flick, but definitely some spooky moments when Snoopy gets shot down behind enemy lines and has to make his way back across the desolate countryside.

And who knows WTF is lurking in that dark pumpkin patch when numbskull kids hang out there instead of going trick or treating?

I just got a Blu-Ray disc of '82 The Thing of which I'll be watching.

Now I want find one of American Werewolf in London and other Horror classics.

It's been a long time since I read the book, but I think you may be right about Carrie destroying a large part of the town, including the fire station so no one could put out the rest of the fires she started.

Yeah I read up on it, I guess they let Carrie live because they were hoping it would lead to a crappy tv series that sounded like shit lol. They didn’t get it. Thank god.

Maybe that’s what the meteors were then. They didn’t show what was going on in the house it just sounded bad.

In the movie I didn’t understand why the cops were all gathered at a gas station and not . . . Idk, where the school on fire was. Or why as the area got dangerous Sue held onto a gas pump for so fukkin long. Bizarre.

A total classic. Still hoping to find it one day on VHS (it costs $20 to ship a tape so it’s not worth buying on eBay).

“I got a rock” lmao fukkin story of my life.
 
A Nightmare on Elm Street.

It's been so longs since I watched this film, I genuinely forgot that a(very)young Johnny Depp had a major role in it.

Freddy does even worse things to Depp's bed than Amber Heard managed. 😈

Krueger is much less snarky in the orginal film, mainly just threatning his victims with torture and death. I'm not a fan of the ending, and neither was Craven, apparently, who intended Freddy to be one and done. Instead, it went on to become one of the longest-running franchises in Horror.

4 Finger Knives out of 5. ;)

Never seen any of the Carrie remakes but love the original. A young Travolta, Spacek is superb and one of the first jumpscare endings.
 
Oddity (2024)

Damn solid movie. A very original story that is best to go in knowing little as possible.

My Rating: 8/10

I saw this as a kid but haven't seen it since. Great movie. Why this is a great horror movie is because I believe in God and the devil, in the Bible so it's realistic and believable to me.

While I found the mother falling over the balcony a little silly, it was the beheading scene that I found most well done. I had to watch that scene twice. I thought the impalement scene was excellent as well.

Great leading actor, story, music, ending. One of the best horror films of the 70s. Top 10 easily.

Yeah this really scared the shit out of me as a kid. The opening musical score is really creepy. Watched this with my brother when very young and like you we were brought up Christian. My brother kept telling me the 2nd coming of the devil was predicted in the bible. We weren't religious freaks by any means but at the time it made the whole thing a lot scarier. Both the sequels are good too.

Its the only Freddy movie he doesn't have stripes on his sleeves. Also felt Tina should have been the main star, the actress was incredible where as this was Heather's worst performance in the nightmare movies.

I actually prefer Dream Warriors as the best nightmare movie or at least my favourite to watch.

I haven’t seen Dream Warriors in full and I’d really like to. Just gotta get my hands on the tape lol.

Sissy is so good and I love her look.

In the remake Kris is less evil and it’s her boyfriend who is a fukkin nut and keeps pressuring her to go through with the plan and dump the blood on Carrie. Not sure how I feel about that. Tbh the actor did a good job of playing a psycho lol but I’d rather Kris just be committed to her own plan. Ah well whatever, in the end they both get rekt anyways.
