Some real classics are celebrating their, "birthdays" this year: The Exorcist, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and A Nightmare on Elm Street.

I make a point of watching lots of horror movies month of Halloween.

Just checked out The Substance the other day. That was hard to rate because it was done very well and had me glued to the screen whole time, however definitely not for everyone. I had Very uneasy squeamish feeling throughout and I’m a horror vet. Whole movie is body horror but the final act goes into some absurd levels

I just watched Halloween Kills for the first time, I will probably see Halloween ends next week.

I actually enjoyed it, kinda surprised it has a huge kill count and even Michael taking on groups of armed people. This actually feels more like a film where MM is the main character in the same way late 80s films did with Jason and Freddy.

Jamie Lee curtis has little screen time, she is put in the hospital after the events of Haloween 2018 and while characters expect MM to atack her (like in H2) the film makes it clear he doesnt really care.

Plot is not as strong as 2018, its more of a lets see Myers kill people in gory ways film.

It also has lots of nudity, more than all of the 80s slasher put together. I think part of the unexpected feeling is having 2 recognizable Hollywood acress in a movie with lots of body horror/ nude scenes.

Also got neon demon vibes from the cinematography, music, theme

I’m gonna watch my 90s teen horrors … that’s what I call them, feel like they were made for my age group in the 90s

Scream and I know what you did last summer….

If they are considered horrors idk maybe thrillers ?

I watched it last night. Definitely THE MOST bizarre movie I have ever seen, which is why it is FREAKING AWESOME. I loved it. Everything. The body horror. And the body...delight. You know what I'm talking about. Incredible scenes.

Love this time of year. This genre is my favorite. Even bad ones have good things about them. You don't judge them like a regular movie. We all know the Friday the 13ths and Elm Streets were not Citizen Kane, but we loved them anyway.

Last Night I watched Watchers on HBO Max. Directed by M.Nights daughter, it had all the feel, pros and cons of his works. Heavy on mood/atmosphere and great build up without much of a payoff. Very cool concept went the fantasy horror route. But got bogged down about 45 minutes in, and the final act was predictable and slightly disjointed. Points for cool visuals and location, as well as sick looking creatures.

Woman gets stuck in a remote forest in Western Ireland. She immediately gets lost and starts to see strange things. She joins a group that has also been lost and stuck in the forest and they have to follow rules to stay alive from the "watchers".

One of the mistakes I made last year was watching films just for novelty value because I hadn't seen or even heard of them before. Quite a few turned out to be shit, unfortunately.

So this year I'm setting the bar much higher in terms of quality. So far, my list includes these Heavyweights,

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The Exorcist
A Nightmare on Elm Street
Brightburn

Halloween II
The Blair Witch Project

im off to a good start this year.
watched the curse and am watching house of the dead (1978) now
gonna get some time tomorrow for return of the living dead and the day after demons
guess this year is a deep dive on the classics
