Guy who won $240k on Holly Holm is wagering $77k on Miesha Tate

And there was me thinking that he knew what he was doing...now its pretty clear that he bets just for the sake of betting, nothing to do with MMA knowledge

MMA fans (myself included) tend to have short-term memories.

Yes, Holm looked outstanding against Rousey, but she didn't look like a world-beater against Pennington (whose record is 6-5) nor against Reneau (who's 38 years old, and whose opponents don't even have Wikipedia pages).

Miesha's better than those two fighters put together. I can understand why the guy's making that wager.

Lol, this guy is about to lose out on a pretty good chunk of that $240,000. He should really study both Holly & Miesha's fights and fighting style before he makes a bet like this.

He should really do some research on both and learn how to match them up more in a more realistic point of view, stylistically speaking.

Holly is a horrible match for Miesha.

I'm taking Holly to win by TKO in the 3rd. I feel she will pick Miesha apart rather easily, land big shots in the first two rounds, land some more big shots in the 3rd but one of them will eventually stun her badly.

She'll get hurt, she'll slowly fall to the mat on her back, covering up. The ref will be telling her to fight back, but nobody's home, Miesha isn't answering, and the ref jumps in and stops the fight.

This is how I see it going. Her striking is going to be too much and Miesha won't be able to take Holly down. Her distance control and footwork is too good, she'll be forcing Miesha to be shooting from the outside, giving Holly tons of time to react and stop the TD with ease.

I know there's tons of people who still might think Holly's TDD is a question mark against a wrestler since we've only seen her against a great Judoka (an Olympic level one at that!), but she has the best TDD in the division.

You don't believe me now, but you will after this fight. I guarantee that some of you guys will see that she easily has the best TDD in the division. I'm very, very confident when I say that.

I'd seriously make a sig bet with somebody about it - if Holly doesn't get taken down, I win the sig bet - if she gets taken down, you win the bet. Anybody up for it?! :)

You know your shit.

Well done

If he likes to bet on underdogs why didn't he bet on Bader, Thompson, Oliveira, Bisping, Diaz?

And why $77,000?

Well, what can you say, it's a winnable fight for Miesha. I'm not mich of a gambler but I'm likely going to put down a small bet on Miesha to win. I don't think the odds reflect how the fight will go, it can very well be a very close fight where Miesha is able to eek out a decision win.

Actually I am from the future. Holm stops Tate in the third with a body kick and follow up punches after getting brutally beaten for 10 minutes and 37 seconds. Tate then turns to porn after coming to terms with the fact she will never become champion. Ronda never returns to MMA, and her acting career never takes off. Holm ruins lives.

God i hope youre right..

Holm is a 34 year old woman who had the fight of her career, who fought some overstuffed, out of shape, blow hard who was expecting some opponent who looked pedestrian her previous two UFC bouts.

Also her tricks are out of the bag now. And she's defending which is a different mindset all together. She'll be game planned for a change. Maybe Miesha has learned something in defeat.

He may be onto something.

Spoken like a true sherdogger with a $50 mil bankroll. :D
Lol, you have to have a $50 mil bankroll to have any sense at all about gambling or money management?

Spoken like someone who goes to the casino with a budget of money they know they'll lose. Please don't ever stop going :)

stop watching these dumb poker movies

gambling is luck and always in favor of the bank

and of course some people will make a huge win, the odds are just very small

What you're talking about are the games with set rules that statistically favor the bank. Gambling on odds can't be described like that since the oddsmakers can't set the correct odds all the time and some people can exploit that. It's still gambling but with a different edge than you have on casino games as you can actually have the odds on your side.

Wonder what other dogs he has won on? Or is it just case of betting on every dog till one hits. Probably has lost more than he has won.

I am up on mma betting from mainly playing underdogs.

Hw underdogs are often good value.

This same guy won, $2.5mil on betting the kc royals before the season and then won $2mil on the broncos to win superbowl and then the holm Rousey fight. So yeah he rakes

Gamblers dont often talk about the loses.

For instance McGregor seems to know how every fight will end (if you ignore the times he was wrong).

He's no professional gambler, just a gambler. People who bet professionally for a living never bet huge amounts on one fight because of the variance (a single bet is never more than 2% of your bankroll)

Just had a chance to see the Holm-Tate faceoff. Holy shit, Holly is jacked. Not just for a woman either. She is physically on a completely different level than Tate. This guy does this for a living, so I know he's smarter than me, but jesus, I would be scared to bet against that.

MMA has to be one of the worst betting sports. Silly fuck should've walked away, but maybe he'll get lucky again.

I see the thinking.. Holly's strength makes her more immune to Judo throws than to leg hugging. If Meisha can get some leg hugging going, she may have more of a chance than Ronda. But if it stays on the feet for more than half the fight, Holly should win.
