Gustafsson vs prime Machida

When the fight was over at least 65% thought Gustafsson won.

.....

Media scores favored Bones clearly, again where did u get 65%? Are Gus fanboys just making up random numbers now?

Gus via finding the soft spot on Machida's chin

The hardest part about prime Machida was that nobody knew what to do. Anyone facing Machida when Rashad did, could have feasibly lost. Jon Jones included. Not because Machida was a superior fighter, but more so, that nobody had a game plan…

If Rashad faced Machida when Jon faced him for instance - Rashad would have a much higher chance of winning.

If you honestly think Gus suddenly became a contender from nowhere, quoting, "as he kind of came out of the blue", then I suggest you do some research before actually posting something stupid as this.

Hence my question if someone could help me better understand what the LHW landscape was back when Alex became a contender, as I remember even then at 165 against Jon thinking that his "contendership" came out of the blue.

He also finishes Thiago standing and put a clinic on him, something Gus couldnt accomplish in multiple rounds. He outpointed Davis on the feet, Davis won win the TDs. He was also outpointing Bones on the feet before the knockdown and knees and he did statistically outpoint Hampage as well.

You keep using same the Shogun and old Davis fights as an arguments. I believe the TS wanted to ask prime Machida vs current (prime) Gustafsson, not 2012 or 2010 Gustafsson when he was still a part time fighter and had no wrestling experience.

You have a lot of logical flaws in your other posts aswell in this thread and I can clearly tell you dont know much about Gustafsson as a fighter, but Im too tired now to start picking you apart. One hint: Please, just stop. You have no idea what you are talking about.

On topic: Gus would be around 70/30 favorite. Too big, too strong, too good TDD, over 7inch reach advantage, too good chin, puts too much volume for passive Machida to outpoint him and hits hard enough to put Machida to sleep.

No I'm just randomly giving gus the only round that he won. Geesh.

You just stated that DC was in no trouble during the whole fight, hence my doubts. The guy got dropped and almost finished, but yeah, lets just pretend that didn't happened!

If you can argue that Gus beat jones and dc, a definitively incorrect statement, then you can argue anything.

Machida beat dc? Sure! Gus did, too. The sky is lime green and trees grow in purple.

Anything that is subjective can be argued. Everyone has their own opinion, personally I don't think Gus beat DC, I just think he beat Jones. You can't really say just because the judges thought he won, that it is a universal truth. Judges can get it wrong, and in Jones vs Gus they clearly got it wrong.

That is just why you, and the rest of your entourage of Jones nuthuggers hate Gus so much.

He is actually the only guy that has beaten him (I'm not bringing Matt Hamill into this).

lol, k.

I dislike Gus because of his delusional team of nuthuggers and his inability to accept his obvious loss to jones, a vastly superior fighter.

I was hoping for a rematch to shut the idiot jones haters that pretend to be Gus fans up, but unfortunately, it appears that Gus isn't good enough to earn another shot.

Because he's a middle of the road, non-elite fighter with no big wins who happens to lose every time the spotlight shines. Facts.

Time will tell if he is good enough or not!

The machida era machida was unbeatable. Even if you beat him up like shogun you still lost the decision!

It's so fuckin stupid for people to argue he never beat anyone good. He had the most competitive fights with the 2 toughest opponents in lhw history. Look what happened to machida against jones.

I agree that Entitlement Gus is not a very good fighter. He just does enough not to get finished in most fights but that strategy didn't quite help him against the Rumble.
