Law Gun and Gun Control News/Discussion

Yes, because SBRs aren't legal to own in all states.

Interesting.

Just looked, and while not many, I suppose it will be a ban for some - though mostly in Dem states anyway, right?

Yes, Dem states that allow cops to have SBRs but not "regular" civilians...
The bigger issue is that for almost 10 years now the ATF said pistol braces weren't an issue. So at least 10 million people bought one. Yet they aren't allowing existing owners to grandfather.

Is this a 'ban', though, because you seem to be describing a move towards taxation?

that's a fair point

Still though, they are putting more restraints on items that aren't exactly being used in the first place to commit these horrendous crimes. The additional taxation does suck but it also comes with a stupidly long waiting period at times. Getting back to my suppressor rant my hunting buddy waited for over a year for his suppressor. He just wanted to make his hunting rifle a tad bit quieter because for those of you that never fired guns before larger rounds like hunting calibers are still pretty loud even with ear protection on.

The recent moves by the ATF and current admin just don't make sense. I'm all for discussing stopping mass shootings but this ain't it.

Nothing in the NFA makes sense, and as Diane Feinstein and Nancy Pelosi have both said, no laws would prevent mass shootings.

Gun Control isn’t the answer, and the BEST scenario for the government is an injunction, the worst scenario would be a mix of Caetano and Bruen coming to kick them in the rear, basically “fine braced pistols are short barreled rifles, fuck you, they’re in common use now, deregulation is necessary”

That would require people calling a spade a spade tho, if it walks like a duck…

New Jersey gun control has a bad week

Gun-control advocates won’t be able to sue gun companies over the lawful manufacture and sale of firearms in New Jersey.

That’s the order U.S. District Court Judge Zahid N. Quraishi, a Biden appointee, handed down on Tuesday. The judge issued a preliminary injunction blocking enforcement of New Jersey’s “public nuisance” law, Assembly Bill 1765, that sought to allow residents to sue gun makers who don’t “establish, implement, and enforce reasonable controls regarding its manufacture, sale, distribution, importing, and marketing of gun related products.” The judge sided with the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), an industry trade group, and found the state law violates the federal Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA), which protects companies from liability for the criminal use of their products by third parties.

It’s more serious than a ban in dem strongholds. As far as the brace issue it’s a reinterpretation(2012) of their (2017)reinterpreted (2022) reinterpretation the ATF has certified the accessories where legal and allowed sale of up to 40 million braces over the last decade. They (ATF) have no legal ability to change law as an administrative agency. It’s going to take some time but the federal government is going to lose badly here for the blatantly obvious overreach, defiance of the Constitution, and defiance of the most recent SCOTUS ruling by Justice Thomas.

I’m really looking forward to the newest stupid shit California is going to come up with after our latest spree of old people shooting people as part of their personal vendettas…

I can see it now . . . >21 and <65 to buy/own a gun. Newsom is THAT stupid.

Just wait until this summer when the SCOTUS overturns their magazine ban.

<{yearp}>

From the doc cyclist being ran over thread . . .

It is nobodies fault except the absolute nut job that is currently in custody.

Now . . . if only people would apply that to gun crime.

Nat Geo is ridiculous and got smacked around on Twitter over a recent Trafficked episode.

You are absolutely right. Here is a good video on how ridiculous the NFA act of 1932 as well as the revisions in 1936 and 1968. If you have the time it’s very educational.

I know you're trying to be clever and all, but in this analogy of yours to be functional they would have to be blaming the car (or the knife I suppose) instead of the potentially motivating political environment.

It's a nope for me brother, although I get what you're trying to say.

I'm saying folks often don't lay the blame on the person responsible, but instead blame an entire group of people.
