It's a gob of Vaseline from Fitch's eye that was applied to a cut.

(Yes I am aware I just said Vaseline in a GSP thread, it is not a joke)
 
GSP was at least a step better in everything, and Fitch had no "out" in that fight...and those fights are often the most lopsided.

But yeah...IIRC that was very much a "clear the board of Fitch" title shot. The UFC didn't really want Fitch derailing contenders, but they couldn't continue to deny him forever...so they swallowed giving him a title shot and the expected beating.

I remember watching that fight and couldn’t believe that Fitch stayed conscious through the whole thing.

I thought it was his mouth guard before Joe Rogan pointed out that his mouth guard was black. He was like "gross".

Probably some slime coming from his mouth.

Edit* Didn't see @QcChopper response. Makes sense that it was some blob of vaseline that was applied to a cut.

Try reading my post. I said it was probably amateur WMAA Level kickboxing cause the lay and pray canceled each other out.
 
Yeah, this was a great performance by Georges. Fitch took a real pummeling in that fight. Couldn’t believe he lasted the entirety. Tough fucker.
 
Those gifs are awesome but what really impressed me was when fitch actually got on top of gsp and then gsp spins around, goes out the back door and reverses him. Pulling that off on a guy like fitch was insane and a real momentum killer for fitch.

That was a nice one too. I should have included that part but didn't want to have too many gifs either. Do you remember which round it was?
 
Fitch had won 15 straight fights heading into this bout 8 of those were in the UFC, he also won 5 straight UFC fights after this loss... This is more of a reflection of the greatness of GSP rather than Fitch.
