This. Dana already passed on this one, because Dana knew there was a 95% that GSP would spank Khabib, then not defend the belt like he did against Bisping. It would be a one and done that would damage Khabib's invincibility appeal (this jabfest into oblivion would not be becoming for Khabib).

They aren't in the same weight class, so it really was not an important fight to hold. GSP is better than Khabib at everything, and is bigger.

By fighting Bisping and basically fucking up the division he has lost the chance to fight arguably the greatest MMA fighter of all time. Had he waited a bit longer fought Khabib, won. He could have blamed the weight cut for his vacating the belt and later moved up to middleweight for the third belt. Dana might have understood this. Georges didn't think this through.

why does khabib need gsp? Khabib has lost like 3 rounds his entire career and was never knocked into the shadow realm by a lw journeyman like gsp was. If anything, georges needs as much redemtion as possible after getting his arm broken in half by Matt Hughes, getting beaten and battered by Penn in the first fight, getting knocked out by a 5'4 journeyman lw and getting his doors absolutely blown off by Pig Rigg. Khabib lost maybe 1 round against conor, round 1 against Gaethje maybe and i really dont remember but probably 1 round against Tibau as well.
So who needs the redemption of a big fight? Khabib has absolutely NUTTIN to prove to anyone. Georges still has the stink of getting knocked out by a lw on him.

One Hendo was not fucking 50. Neither guys where in their prime. In fact it could be argued Hendo was in better condition then Bisping considering Mike had one eye effectively.
