The fact that Dan Hardy challenged for the title shows how weak GSPs opponents were. One dimensional guys like Hardy, Condit, Hughes would be in the prelims today. Lets not forget the LWs he fought like BJ Penn, Sherk, Serra etc... Khabibs wins are far better

Khabib had one close fight (soundly lost? You retarded lol?) in his career.

GSP meanwhile got finished multiple times, including by a total can.
Also struggled in multiple fights.

Of all the arguments comparing the two, you may want to stay away from mentioning the Tibau fight.

Matt Serra wasn't a TUF newbie when he fought GSP. He had been competing in the UFC for about 5 years (and other organizations before that) before competing with other established UFC veterans on TUF for a shot at the title. TUF 4 was different from the other series in that it featured mainly UFC veterans who had never won a title.

Who was Khabib fighting in his early 20's??

By the time in Khabib's career where he started fighting top 10's, GSP had already been champion for half a decade....
 
no comparison.

gsp fought top fighters for what seemed like forever,
defended the belt more times than khabib fought top 5 guys.

khabib has a great top game and relentless takedowns
gsp could do it all.

Penn fanboys are still salty over Georges. Forget about going up, GSP was fighting in his own weight class. Khabib almost died during his weight-cut process. It’s not gonna be a “moving up” thing if Khabib fights with Usman, Colby etc. Because he’s naturally a Welterweight.

Condit, Penn, Hughes and Sherk are a better fighters than anybody on Khabib's resume.
 
This is a funny thread to read. You all sound pretty much stupid on both sides.

There is no way to compare GSPs best wins and Khabibs best wins since they where in different weight classes and was seperated by like 10 years of MMA. GSP beat the best WWs in the world (except Lawler) and everyone thrown at him, Khabib beat all the best LWs (except Tony) and everyone thrown at him. There is no way to compare Shields, Condit, Hendricks and Diaz with Conor, Gaethje, RDA and Poirier since their primes are seperated by almost 10 years and are in different weight classes.

Also consider this, GSP was signed to UFC after like 5 professional fights since the fight game was fairly new and the roster much smaller. There was just not that many fighters in each division. So he got to the UFC much faster and to the title much faster than Khabib, hence all his defences. Khabib had to wait until he was 15-0 before he got signed to the UFC and then he had to wait until he was 9-0 in the UFC before he got a title shot (would have gotten one faster if it wasnt for his 2 year injury and then Conor holding up the division). Compare that to GSP that got a title shot in his 7th professional fight and 3rd fight in the UFC.

If Khabib had less bodies to get through before getting to the title like GSP im sure he would have had much more title defenses than 3. Can we just all agree that they are two of if not the best two MMA fighters of all time and that it was a privilage to watch them both in their primes?

Matt Serra literally got one split decision win after a 2 fight losing streak and got a title shot. He also went 11-7 in the UFC. Its like Khabib getting ko'd by Bobby Green
