I wonder how those stats would look if Jon Jones didn't miss so much time with suspensions and injury.
And without cherry picking nor ducking
I think GSP is Goat due to the overall package. Being a good role model and not being caught for PEDs. I think if you look at the resume it is more of a 50/50, and if not it is clearly Jones. Jones' list is crazy. GSP is clearly stronger in the "other" mma champions category, but for me Jones decimates GSP in the UFC champion category. It's time to discuss... the myth of Jon Jones being the GOAT due to all the champions he has beaten. When in fact, GSP has beaten an equal amount of UFC champs, and more combined MMA champs in major promotions (UFC, WEC, Strikeforce, Bellator, One FC). Not just that, but it was only in his last fight against a washed up Stipe that Jones tied GSP for wins against UFC champions. Let's take a look...
UFC Champions Beaten
GSP Jon Jones Sean Sherk Shogun Rua BJ Penn Quinton Jackson Matt Hughes Lyoto Machida Matt Hughes Rashad Evans Matt Serra Vitor Belfort BJ Penn Glover Texeira Johny Hendricks Daniel Cormier Michael Bisping Stipe Miocic Other MMA Champions Beaten (+ Interims)
GSP Jon Jones Karo Perisyan (WEC) Brandon Vera (One FC) Jon Fitch (PFL) Ryan Bader (Bellator) Jake Shields (Strikeforce) Ciryl Gane (UFC Interim) Carlos Condit (UFC Interim + WEC) Nick Diaz (WEC + Strikeforce)

Why would he not count? he won his title via finish from a lineal champion.

Jones doesn’t have two wins against Cormier. He had a win and a no contest due to being a pathetic steroid junkies lol. He also has a canceled fight against Cormier due to being a pathetic steroid junkie. You put Matt Hughes but done put Cormier twice?
It's a possibility that Gus, Santos, and OSP win belts in the GFL this year, that'll boost Jones resume again I'm also watching Reyes, he has the most potential to win a ufc belt outta all the guys Jones beaten that haven't won a belt yetI think GSP is Goat due to the overall package. But Jones gets a pass with Miocic?lol at listing bisping
Yeah, I was gonna ask that too...Why would he not count? he won his title via finish from a lineal champion.
Honestly, Izzy, volk, Anderson, stipe, DC, Holloway, Hughes, all come before khabib in my eyesDamn Anderson slipped my mind. Those are the Top 6 for sure. Then you get into Poatan, Izzy, Volk, Khabib territory.
Yeah and in the 90's every baseball player was on roids but its Barry Bonds who will never be in the Hall of FameThe only reason you guys have GSP higher is because you like him more
Also as far as PEDs go, GSP was hardly ever tested properly, as his career was pre USADA
Yeah he alleges he wanted more testing and was a clean athlete, but Mike O'Hearn also claims natty, so people will say anything they want
There is no proof GSP cheated, but there is no proof that monsters like Eddie Hall use PEDs, because he never was tested
So for all you naive folk that believe him, I can take you to see Santa clause for fifty bucks and the tooth fairy for 50
Hey why not do a special, send me 80 bucks and I'll take you to see both
He faced absolutely everyone at WW. Then retired and only came back for 1 legacy fight. Not to reign over MW as an undersized fighterWithout cherry picking or ducking?
hahahahaha
Both situations are exactly the same and there is no way to dispute it in good faith.
Both made decisions that made the most business sense during the twilight of their careers.
At the time, Woodley was in his prime and was the tougher fight stylistically. Bisping was a year older than GSP and just came off a narrow split decision over a 42 year old hendo in his retirement fight.
He took the bisping fight. It was an easier fight, more aged opponent, more money at stake, second belt on the line.
Ultimately, he made the smart move which made the most business and legacy sense, not unlike what Jones is doing(assuming he doesn't fight aspinall)
He was supposed to fight the winner of Whittaker Romero, then mysteriously became Ill and retired, never to be seen again.
The two situations mentalities are exactly the same, the only difference is you're biased towards one and hate another.
All fighters in the twilight of their career make decisions that make the most business sense. All of them. It isn't something unique to GSP or Jones, you can find examples even going back to the early days of boxing.
Only thing I'd add is that Stipe was already signed before aspinall came into the title picture. They both already trained for a full camp before Jones got injured, already promoted it, ufc already invested time, money and energy into selling it. They were never not going to do that fight, regardless of who came Into the picture.
So, Jones hasn't officially ducked anyone yet. There was never an offer to fight aspinall
If he decides to retire now, then people can say he's ducking, but he just fought and we really don't know how it's gonna play out yet.
Youngest champion and top 10 oldest champion, with a chance to move up to as high as fourth oldest If he defends the title a couple more times and outlasts Poatan as a champion (Couture and Glover are out of reach and Cormier is very unlikely). How did serra become UFC champion in the first place? Lol
How many ufc champs has jones lost to?
How many title defences does each guy have?
Longest winning streak?
Youngest champion
Still champion
Etc
Etc
Imagine unironically posting this and expecting people to take you seriously ever againAnd Jon has a lot more championship fights .. and didn't retire out of fear..
